Hard to say why. Might be a pollution issue, or maybe it’s because of all the makeup and cosmetic products absorbed. What you said is true and take into consideration that women are afflicted at much higher rates, and that other high fish consumption regions like coastal Bangladesh don’t have high thyroid disease or cancer.

Some research has been done to see if fish is the source of thyroid cancer, but it seems they are not connected.

Honey has tiny amounts of nutrients
The consequences of eating free/added sugar are far worse than any benefit you can get

mineral content of honey is minuscule
same for brown sugar, its all just bs marketing by the sugar industry to sell their by-product of refining pure sucrose (i.e. white table sugar)

concentrated minerals from sugar cane refining is in the molasses/black strap which is the actual based sugar if you had to sweeten tea/coffee/etc assuming you're okay with the taste
also molasses has higher amounts of invert sugars like glucose and fructose relative to honey/golden syrups which have a higher relative sweetness (albeit different less well rounded sweetness profile) so in theory you need less for the same level of sweetness

the honey industry is separate from that of the sugar refining industry but the marketing is the same of exaggerating the mineral content and supposed health benefits of something that sugars-wise (i.e. the split between sucrose, glucose and fructose) is near on identical to golden syrup off the shop shelves

that being said, honey at least has an ecological benefit to the environment with bee pollination and such but nutritionally not much your typical invert syrups

Apparently the actual deep qualities of honey are in the honey comb, rather than the honey itself.

Know that spoon that is in the OP ? The point of it is to reduce oxydation of the honey and maintain the qualities it has.
Except the machine that extracts the honey from the honey comb is already oxydating the honey and it comes in contact with a metal.
Basically the extraction process is what removes a lot of the good qualities of honey.
Second point - honey comb is often reused, so only first use honey comb is worth eating and multiple use ones are really hard to chew on.
Few beekeepers produce honey combs only, since that cuts their production down to 30%.

The problem is: most liquid honey is closer to jam, than the actually good qualities of honey.

The wooden spoon is total larp as well.
