I’m thinking about moving my caffeine intake to the afternoon rather than morning. I always crash in the afternoon after I break my fast at 2pm. I’m so unproductive at that time. Any thoughts?

Nah. I like the feeling of getting amped from caffeine. I won't enjoy my coffee as much if I drink it twice a day.

This is what I do and I recommend it. I drink water all morning, and a protein shake. Then at lunch have my caffeine and the rest of the afternoon is easy.

Going to try it out tomorrow. Maybe I'll do a green tea in the morning just to have a hot drink.

      Actual solution:

You are crashing hard because you are drinking caffeine too early.
Adenosine makes you sleepy and builds up throughout the day.
Caffeine works by blocking adenosine binding to receptors to make you feel more alert. When it wears off, all the adenosine rebinds and you crash and get tired.
You clear adenosine levels when you sleep, but in the first 90-120 minutes after waking up you still have residual adenosine from the previous day/night in your system that your body clears naturally via bright light exposure, cold exposure, and exercise before starting the new day's adenosine clock.
If you drink caffeine during this 90-120 minutes, your body registers the adenosine as "cleared" so it begins it's new adenosine clock, but when the caffeine wears off you get a crash combining all the new day's adenosine PLUS the residual adenosine from the morning, leaving you with a megacrash.
Drinking caffeine later in the day will only disrupt your sleep
      >b-but I get to sleep just fine after drinking coffee!
Don't care. Getting to sleep=/=quality sleep. Caffeine takes 10-12 hours to leave your system fully, and if still in your system upon sleeping objectively compromises your REM and deep sleep.
      >I always crash after I fast
That's what digestion does to you. Food produces a prolactin response.

      TL;DR
      >don't drink caffeine in the first 90-120 minutes of the day
      >don't drink caffeine 10 hours before bed
If you do these two things caffeine is all upside baby

        >Caffeine takes 10-12 hours to leave your system fully

you can't, you're a pleb who couldn't tell the difference between a good and a bad cup, and the whole point is to achieve the perfect coffee for each brewing method you use, or each coffee beans you like, with its proper infussion time, temp, pressure, etc. and consistently prepare it, but a street shitter will never understand white man's drive for perfection in even the smallest things

for me. its the cappuccino. not any Starbucks slop they dare call a cappuccino. but the certified Italian cappuccino. first, I warm up my espresso machine for 10 minutes while I prepare my beans and grind. 7g of a south american dark roast. ground. I then prepare and steam the milk, 100ml, a temperature to where it starts to be too hot on my hand. I like a wet foam, not too foamy. milk is done, and now I prepare the shot. 7g to a 25ml extraction. I then poor into a 6oz purslane cup.

preground coffee isn't worse because the grinders at the factory are worse. it's worse because coffee starts losing its potency and flavor as soon as it becomes exposed to the oxygen. the roasted outer shell protects from that (not entirely, but to a large extent. as in up to months). when you grind it, you suddenly expose thousands of tiny little surfaces that all start to react with oxygen in the air.
you want to minimize the time the beans spend ground but not brewed. obviously it's not a matter of seconds, but your setup looks like you leave the groud up coffee out for days.

            Anonymous

7g is what? 100mg ish of caffeine?
first off having a set weight of beans is dumb because the amount of caffeine per gram can wildly differ, as in easily double from one type of bean to the other. if you only buy one type of coffee (a sad life) then that negates that, but still we're talking about 100mg of caffeine.
it absolutely does not matter whether you drink 100mg or 200mg of caffeine per day. this is like when people worry about if they can eat two potatoes instead of one on a diet or if they should take 200mg of ibuprofein instead of 400mg.
the dose is so ridiculously low anyway it makes no difference in the slightest.

also using a scale to measure coffee is gross and soulless.
