For someone getting into the martial arts, is boxing a good place to start? I’m 6’2 230 lbs and former handegg player. Also, is $200 a month a reasonable price for a boxing gym?

>200$ a month to get punched in the head by a black guy
Do americans really?
damn you are a baby back bitch huh how's that workin out for ya so far

Boxing is a great place to start. One of the best martial arts you can learn
>$200
If that includes coaching then absolutely
How many wedgies did you get in school buddy?
ur looking at it wrong, $200 to do the punching
Problem?
Yeah boxing is an ideal place to start
Consider grappling as well like BJJ
But boxing is enough to hold your own
You have a decent build, if you are skilled, you could be a contender
If it’s just to use the gym then $200 is a lot
If that includes coaching also then i don’t really know but that sounds reasonable
Do some BJJ or Judo aswell and after a year of both you could probably beat the Shit out of 99% of the population
Can you punch hard even with small hands and skinny wrists? Prob not eh? :^/
Has there ever been a hard puncher in pro boxing with small hands/wrists?
this guy is like 5'11 and fights at 135 pounds, he has a couple walk off KOs in mma. Once you have the technique down your punching power is pretty much what it is, but the hardest punch is the one that lands, especially if they don't see it coming. I think it's pretty rare to be completely unable to hurt someone if you're able to land cleanly.
>135 pounds
I mean, anyone can beat up women anon. what about wristlets in actual male weight divisions?
to be fair he's only 135 pounds for a few minutes, he's probably in the low 150s when he steps in the cage. Adesanya at 185 is another example. Worrying about punching power is a novice thing, if you can land you can hurt. You don't need to be Deontay Wilder knocking people out through their guard, it would be nice though.
you xan get bigger hands and wrist
>destroys your liver
Is there permanent damage?
barring major lacerations, the liver can regenerate just fine. it will hurt like hell though, the recovery period will be no fun.
boxing is a great start, $200 a month seems really steep for gym fees. I train at an mma gym and my fees are only $140 a month and it's a very reputable gym.
Seems a little steep, but I'm cheap as fuck. I used to go to a gym where I did Muay Thai/Sambo for $125 a month. I would do that 5-6 times a week. If you have the money and you like the instruction, go ahead.
>Also, is $200 a month a reasonable price for a boxing gym?
Its a bit pricier than I've seen but do they have sparring? Do they have open gym outside of the group classes? Is there some bullshit member "activation" fee?
My gym charges 60 a month for adults but it's not really a professional one. 200 sounds above average but if the gym produces actual fighters with quality coaches, go for it if you're serious about becoming a fighter. If you're just wanting to do martial arts for the sake of training, you could find a cheaper place to train and study YouTube videos, buy a punching bag.
