Front squats are superior to back sqirts

Honest question: why does anyone who isnt a powershitter do back squats?

90% or more of people cant do them with good form. Front squats are superior for everyone who isnt a powerlifter. There is really no compelling reason to back squat.

I did them for 6 years and havent done them for the last 4 unless just to see where im at for fun.

The only reason i can think of people doing backs instead is because “LE INTERNET SAYS THEY ARE FREAKING COOL. I WANT TO PROOOVE IM A MAN AFTER BEING SEDENTARY FOR MY WHOLE LIFE”

If you can't back squat properly I'm not really sure what makes you think you can front squat, it's the more demanding lift technically

I’ve never seen someone with good quad development talk about how back squatting isn’t a good exercise.

I never said its a bad exercise you twerp. I just said 90% of people are better off with front squats because a range of factors including that most people do goodmornings with them or have buttwink etc.

I did them for 6 years autistically with high bar olympic style, even got squat shoes modified to help. I can do a back squat even now with impeccable form but i just realised front squats are superior for most people even myself as im not a power lifter.
Backsquats are an average hamstring and spinal erector exercise even if you do them well.
Fronts hit the quads harder, glutes just as much, and spinal erectors as well as abs well. You also cant funk them up no matter how shit you are at them. Much better for most people.

People should be doing other shit for hamstrings anyway so i think it is a non argument for back squats. Even back when i was back squatting my hams never grew much till i started directly training them.

I just squat 2x a week and do walking lunges 1x a week cause I don’t have the shoulder mobility to do front squats safely.
Seems good, when I did back squats alone they stalled but adding the lunges has given me solid progress for the past month.

High bar back squats and the SSB are objectively superior, and I was a pretty good front squatter @ 405 for 5

I don't do front squats because I can't do them confortably. Depending on how I hold the bar, they either hurt my wrists or they hurt my clavicles

You are unathletic. You didn't grow up running around and playing sports. Most people who are active as youth have no problem squatting. Anytime I hear some gay crying about how bad squats are, it's guaranteed some unathletic genetic dead end that hasn't accepted they qre inferior yet

    Just do both.
Back squat on heavy days, front on light. How the frick is this even a debate?

Go do high rep front squats and you'll realize why nobody does them as a main mover.

I agree that most people shouldn't do barely-parallel low-bar back squats. But they should do deep high-bar back squats. Front squats are too limited by upper back strength and the front rack position is uncomfortable, limiting the amount of weight and reps you can do.

Take the zercherpill. The front rack position is completely pointless and unnatural. Zercher position is closer to how you would lift something like a heavy box.

They're also surprisingly injury-safe even if backrounding gets out of hand. You'd think it would get bad based on how the weight is held in your arms but it doesn't. Don't know the biomechanics of why but that's from experience

Neither can they with the front squat.

Front/Back Squat are both good, screeching about which is better is pure autism.

bros is it weird that my front squat is 90% of my back squat? I have proportionally long femurs so it seems like my front squat shouldn't be this strong.

if you do high bar deep back squats and you have a strong upper back, it's not weird.

He says, in a thread recommending front squats...

Good for you that you figured out training should be personalized over time. But, your logic here is shit. Sure, keep judging what to do with your life based on the lowest common denominator.
