obvious b8 but on the real he has some great advice
    >as soon as you wake up, go outside and look at the sky to heal your circadian rhythm
    >do deliberate cold exposure to boost adrenaline before exercise
    >avoid overloading your brain with "instant dopamine hits" like social media, sweets, etc.
    >take control of your dopamine receptors and train yourself to produce your own motivation

he literally explains everything he talks about in easily-digestible terminology and educates you on how your brain and body function. don't blame the teacher because you're unteachable. and if you're not skipping ad reads in videos that's your problem. maybe the professor of neurobiology isn't the problem, but your lazy ass is. open your ears for once and maybe you'll learn something.

The one constructive criticism I have is that he provides excellent lectures and theory, but the how-to's are often lacking. You can walk away feeling like you've been educated, but feeling somewhat confused on the practicality of any of the information you've leaned.

Having said that, the top rated youtube comment is usually a synopsis of the applicable advice for all of his videos. You can tell he's VERY timid about actual advice he gives for legal reasons, but if he gave a conclusion or advice section at the end, his vids would be 10/10.

90% of "lifehack" science is garbage that is highly speculative at best. The service that popsci promoters like this dude and also people like Gladwell etc provide is to make people feel smart and superior by knowing thousands of "crazy facts" that probably aren't even true or are lacking in a huge amount of the context required for an actual understanding.

It's the same as the thousands of books sold to women on parenting or relationships etc. Just these dudes found a way to get money from men too.

research does not mean absolute truth. It is often more of a suggestion. Look at his Wikipedia page, it is mostly focusing on anxiety responses through different parts of the brain, but that "breathe ten times and your day will burst full of energy" is bullshit.

so is there a way to do this in a domain specific area? Like, I understand a hypothetical situation where someone wanted to find normal women attractive again so they stopped bombarding their dopamine circuits with pixelated ass and breasts constantly - but what if I want I want to enjoy and seek out socializing more?

if you figure this one out lmk

Build it up slowly over time
Practice “opening” yourself in conversations - I don’t know how to explain it but it’s when you genuinely seek to speak to a person’s heart, rather than just interacting with them as a talking object.
If you can’t do this, try it on the checkout cashier. Don’t just make random small talk, but instead look at the person and try and feel what they’re feeling, and from that you can match their energy.
The next thing to do is to go to places where there are people who are like you (or like who you want to be) and LARP. I’m not kidding, what you need is a social persona. Fake it till you make it. If you struggle to naturally fake it, think about someone you know who is really popular and cool, and imagine yourself as acting the same way. If you can believe that you are popular and cool, then very soon you will become popular and cool.
Another anon said psycho-cybernetics is a good book, you can get pdf on Google.
Also, PUA meme aside, the mystery method explains places you should go to and spatial awareness in social situations

This is all good advice and 100% what I did back in 2009 to overcome social anxiety and become a social butterfly in college. Psycho-Cybernetics, LARPing as a social persona, etc. Amusingly the PUA meme was what gave me the idea that I could learn social skills and improve, so it worked out for the best.

Regarding deriving reward from social interactions, taking natural introversion or extroversion out of the equation for a moment, I think one factor is that people tend to not enjoy what they suck at. Think about learning a new skill, like learning to play the guitar, or first starting at the gym, or whatever... It feels like a chore at first until you gain enough skill to start deriving reward from it. Socializing is the same. I had social anxiety and low level social skills that I had to learn from scratch, so I set little mini goals for myself each day that would gradually get more difficult, like starting a conversation with someone from class, or holding eye contact, stuff like that. Went from always turning red, stuttering, and feeling butterflies in my stomach to being really comfortable socially and a lot of friends I made in college recalled meeting me through me randomly talking to them.

Succeedsocially.com is also a really good site I used way back then that covers a lot of the absolute basics of social skills and starting conversations if you're an absolute sperg starting from scratch.

Hubes explains exactly this situation in his podcast on dopamine iirc but basically when you feel lonely and isolated then the first few times you go out and socialize are not going to be particularly enjoyable but if you continue doing it (with the intention of having a good time and not just dragging yourself out there for the sake of doing it) then you will begin to enjoy it more and more and it comes to you more naturally.

Anyone who believes so much in The Science is a midwit, that's my main issue with him, and the supplement shilling. At the higher end of thd IQ bell curve people realise the limitations or pitfalls of modern science, especially in soft sciences where most studies are either junk or fraudulent. Every study should be taken apart with a comb rather than taken at face value. Then there's supplements. You don't need supplements, you need to eat more meat, eggs and fish. These sorts of people have to invent problems to sell you solutions, and ancestral wisdom is like kryptonite to them.

      Anonymous

      >muh science is for midwits
If you actually listen to what Huberman has to say instead of robotically spouting anti-empiricism dogma then you'd know that no scientist takes any study "at face value," but instead synthesizes the findings with other research that has been done up until that point and use it to formulate a coherent perspective on the subject. As more research is conducted and more findings are reviewed and published, the perspective shifts and grows to accommodate the new information.

Meanwhile morons like you assume the pseud position that because "modern science has limitations" (find me one person who will tell you otherwise) then any new research or data can comfortably be discarded without a second thought.
