I'm a show pony, not a work horse. Work horses get shot when they can't fulfil their purpose, show ponies get show b***hes.

Lol, this is moronic strength is strength. If you get stronger at barbell lifts which is the easiest way to gain muscle and strength while still maintaining stabilization aspect then you will get stronger in a way that applies to your day to day life

I lift because it's fun and makes me look good naked. I'm a software engineer. I don't need to simulate loading bags of concrete into a cement mixer.

      >virgin brainlets see it as improving your blue collar abilities
      >real men see it as improving your girl manhandling abilities
for a software engineer i'd expected you to be a lot smarter than this

I think when your goal is to be genuinely strong you realize at some point that spamming basic barbell movements is by far not enough, even if you add a lot of weight to your sq/dl/bench. Change a vector of movement or the starting point or weight distribution and you suddenly become hardly better than any other guy. It's definitely worth it to do a huge variety of movement patterns and different approaches, at least when you want to be actually strong, not just bench strong. Not saying it's a must, but it's probably smarter to keep things diversified than to spam conventional simple barbell movements all the time.

300 is where it starts getting pretty hard depending on what you're trying to do with it.
