Rows are based but as the other anon said pullovers are retard proof when it comes to feeling your lats, you can do them any time and no matter how bad you feel you will feel your lats steaming
i hated these bc they were shilled as a chest xercise and i never felt them pump. but then i tried a pullover machine and it felt great so now i do the dumbbell variation for back.
but straight lat pulldowns are still the king pullover variant
I do them in my warmups with a resistance band standing with my arms stretched directly overhead holding the band facing away from the rack where I have the band attached. then I just find the perfect place where I can feel the lats stretch and maintain that tightness through the movement. OP is correct i'v never been able to flex my lats quite like I can after these banded pullovers. I feel like this is best done with a band not dumbbells as this isn't exactly the type of exercise you want to progressively overload and go heavy on so going high rep on a resistance band just for the pump work is the way to go.
My shoulders feel like they’ll pop out of the socket even at very low weight.
There are better exercises.
Such as
Have you tried decreasing the ROM?
Rows and pull-ups.
Rows for sure, but for some reason I don't find pullups as good for mind muscle connection. I guess because pullups use more muscle groups.

one of my favourite exercises, might even start doing them 2 days a week: cable and db pullovers for maximum lat gains
why would you ever do this with free weights
I do them with cables sometimes but it feels better with free weight for whatever reason
Free weight makes it easier at the end of the movement
>Why aren't you doing dumbbell pullovers?
Because I do ez bar pullovers. love em
*mogs u*
I love these and did some today.
Yeah these are good as well, the ROM in the gif is too short though you want an insane stretch at the top
Well it's not an either or situation, I do rows, pullups and pullovers. Everyone has room in their routine for all of them
Yeah but I mean the actual hard part of the movement feels better
Whenever i do pullovers I get forearm pain basically golfers elbow for some reason even with 30lbs weight.
I do these one arm at a time to avoid muscle imbalances.
How much weight do you guys use on DB pullovers? I only did 20kg yesterday cause I'd never done them before and didn't wanna snap my shoulders up.

Hurts my shoulders
Do them with kettlebells instead
