Ring dips will develop your connective tissues better than dips since you can go deeper and get a better stretch, but I find that they don't cause as much connective tissue fatigue either because the rings don't force you into an unnatural position that goes against how your joints operate. Essentially they're just better lol

thganks. only question, do you think the connective tissue fatigue from the position regular dips put you into leads to any gains or purely a drawback

Purely a drawback imo, you can't do as much dipping because of it and I don't think the connective tissues adapt as much anyway since they don't get stretched as much compared to ring dips.

      No.
      you tricep tendonitis over time
      No.
Also trash genetics + trash form.
      your shoulders
      No.

      t. weighted dip 1rm is +110kg, weighted muscle up 1rm on rings is +30kg
      Just don't be trash.

They're not. It's just that you act safer on rings because it's easier to fall off.

Dips are based, both on bars and on rings.

Then why the frick do parallel bar dips give me sternum, clavicle, and shoulder issues? Before you tell me to "durr hurr control the reps" I was doing them paused and with slow eccentrics, they still caused me issues. I don't get these issues at all with ring dips
        >Broscience and wrong.
        not an argument

That being said if you can do parallel bar dips without any issues there's nothing wrong with them, the issue is that some people cannot do them at all because of their build. From my experience ring dips don't have this issue because they're not as restrictive

Your hands are in a fixed position on the parallel bar while on rings it's not the case, which means you can move your hands and arms around to any position and orientation that works well with your anatomy during your reps

Yes that's exactly why I think ring dips are safer; parallel bar dips are simply contraindicated for a lot of people due to their bone structure, while ring dips aren't. Again if you can do normal dips without any problems then great, it's still a fantastic movement.

True, but it may be hard for people to jump right into ring dips without doing parallel dips first.
For me I started doing pushups, when I started getting +40 reps I moved to parallel bar dips, when I started getting +20 reps I moved to rings because I already familiarised myself with the dipping motion on the parallel bars.

I think it's perfectly possible for people to jump from ring pushups into ring dips. There was a brief period where I really tried to make parallel bar dips work, but it didn't last very long due to aforementioned issues, so I swapped over to ring dips and I was immediately able to do them without any problems. Though parallel bar dips probably did help a bit, I think the fact that I had been doing ring pushups for ages before this had more to do with me being able to do ring dips than the parallel bar dips, since they were only in my training for a brief period.

Never tried ring pushups, mainly because I can't be arsed to adjust my ring straps

theyre definitely harder than normal push ups. and you can bring your hands together at the top for an extra pump.
