No, it would feel deeper. Appendix is more to the side than the middle, and would hurt like a mother fricker. You may have gotten a hernia or just done something stupid to hit your stomach while you were drunk. Wouldn't worry about it.

yeah I’m mostly worried about the appendix specifically because I saw that with that one the pain is usually dull and only felt with a light touch which is symptom to a T, like if I press on it hard it doesn’t hurt at all

That said I haven’t had any of the other symptoms I saw like nausea/vomiting, indigestion, loss of appetite etc

Everyone I've known who have had appendixes out said that the pain was sharp and awful and that they knew right away they had to go to the ER. I would only go to the doctor if you have insurance and money

OP here, thankfully I have insurance but yeah, I msg’d my GP online and she said if it doesn’t go away by Monday or gets worse to come in for a checkup

Yeah this is always what I heard too but tbf there’s a lot of mixed messaging online, ie appendicitis can be sharp and sudden pain / symptoms, or nothing at all. Doesn’t help that there’s a ton of overlap between hernia / appendicitis / pancreatitis / liver damage symptoms

Not if they had wieners that were thin at the base but with big bulbous heads.

hope it’s not this bc my dad had em and it seemed like hell lol, from the symptoms I’m guessing it’s not though — it mentions those cause sudden & intense pain (for me the pain literally only happens when I bend down or lightly touch it, and it’s a very dull pain, more like touching a slightly sore muscle than actual pain) as well as fever, vomiting, bloody stool, yellow skin etc none of which I’ve had

you can just monitor the symptoms, if they get worse, seek medical help, if they keep getting better, you may have just pulled something or got injured

maybe this but the fact OP is feeling it right after heavy drinking means its prob not that

How easy / expensive is it to get your liver health screened? This post got to me in that I’m not a heavy drinker, but I am a frequent one and I get the feeling that might actually be more damaging in the long run.

I have decent insurance, I just have no idea how simple that is to test for, not to mention I feel like bringing it up with my doc is going to make him assume I’m a full-on alcoholic.

blood test is all it should take. if you're at a healthy weight and relatively fit I wouldnt worry too much, and no truly degenerate drinker would ask their doc for blood work for it because they wouldn't want to know.

Blood test. One that measures for AST, ALT, bilirubin, and Alkaline Phosphatase.
Get it done at Quest or UltaLabs

Good to know anons, actually getting one done with my annual physical next month but didn’t know blood tests did it (which I’m guessing is a good thing if my doc never brought it up before lol?)

Yeah I just get self-conscious when I see those things being like “MORE THAN ONE BEER A WEEK = ALCOHOLIC” lol. I’d say I usually have alcohol 5-6 a week but even then the context is usually like 1-2 beers or a glass of wine or a wienertail most nights, and then 0-2 nights a week going out with friends it’ll be like 2-3 vodka sodas. Haven’t had a full-on hangover since like college 8 years ago.

I know no amount of alcohol is healthy & all that but I feel like all the alcoholics I’ve known who genuinely damaged their bodies & livers from it were like, drinking a full bottle or two of >40% ABV liquor daily and shit

metabolic panel, it's the most widely done test and very cheap, ALT and AST will determine how fatty your liver is.

for something more expensive, a ct scan can be done with contrast

they probably put something up your ass and it migrated further upward. like maybe a couple lemons or a funko pop or something.

Acute pancreatitis, maybe? If you had abnormally nasty shits the next day I'd bet on that. Not serious if it's just related to one heavy drinking session.

not OP but does taking anti-inflammatories help with that, since it’s the pancreas getting inflamed and all?

        bump

Not really. Often the inflammation itself is just a response to a shit load of enzymes that are there that shouldn't be. Can't just aspirin away the irritation.

it’s probably this OP, IIRC the vast majority of the time acute pancreatitis is due to gallstones or alcohol consumption

probably not great for your pancreas if you keep causing it in the long-term but yeah short term it’s not a big deal
