I'm just skinny fat overall, so it's not like I have a ton to loose. I think hardcore dieting for 4 months or fasting for a few days at a time is somehow more miserable than just getting it all over at once.

If you fast more than 3 to 4 days, you don't have any more hunger. I know it because i did it 12 days last year. Nothing but water, of course. Just like you describe
If you're doing a cheat day, be extra careful with pizza. It can undo a lot of progress really quick.
