yes, but really only in the context of olympic lifting training, otherwise has not so much use. even for oly, it'd still be a bit of a meme to do this. also requires relatively advanced joint mobility.

    Yes.

Yes behind the neck press but you don't do it in the squat position expect you train for the olympics and you do it with very light weight and only if you're flexible enough.

its a weightlifting meme lift. he probably saw klokov or someone do it and stole the idea

      its called a sots press

        Anonymous

Sots is press from front in squat.
        This is press in snatch.
Sots is commonly mistaken for press in snatch, so much its commonly called sots behind.

so much so that you mainly find it as BtN.
Even crossfit has it demonstrated BtN

Viktor Sots did them from the front. Think maybe more people do them btn because it's easier if you have bad mobility since you only have to press up and not around your head.
Both ways are good exercise if you train for snatch and clean&jerk

Behind the neck press is shit, there’s a reason people don’t do it anymore, you’re likely to frick up your shoulder joint. My grandpa hurt his shoulder doing them back in the day .

BtN is actually really good for shoulder health because it helps open up the rotator cuff which leads to lowered chances of impingement.

People only injure themselves on it because they haven't worked the muscles required for it and pull something.

YAYO YAYO YA YO UH OH
His name is TruCrypt (that's Tripgay Trucrypt)
Gonna be King of the Gymbros.
He's made of carbload (how did that happen?)
Yohoho, he took a bite of FRICKIN' BREAD
      YAYO YA YO
      His name is Big Zyzz, he's just like a real dead guy;

The ketards crew coming through doin' their thing with the king of the gymbros, he's gonna be king.
      YAYO YAYO YAYO UH OH

It's the name of the weird press in the home gym!

It's "Ya yo ya yo"? My entire life I thought it was "GOTTA GO GOTTA GOOO"

That character is limiting what his shoulders can do by pressing the weight in that position. It's not terrible but it's not going to help as much as doing the exercise standing or seated with back support.

I suppose it works the upper body musculature while using the lower body muscles as balance
I guess oda saw one pic of someone executing snatch overhead squat and thought the lift starts there

Better than the one where he's doing jumping squats with a loaded barbell, that's just a recipe for disaster.
