Its a contentious topic. There is only a certain amount your body will utilise at a time but that doesnt mean it can't store it and continue to use it. Nippy has a video on it that breaks it down pretty well

so even if i consume say 60g in one sitting i shouldn't be worried about any of it going to waste?

You could consume 300g of protein in one sitting and your body will process it all in any and all ways it sees fit. Some protein will be used for muscles, some for energy, some will be turned to glucose ect. It doesn't matter how many grams you eat in a single sitting, your body will get to every last gram eventually, even if it takes it 16+ hours

wouldn't you just shit it out like when people take excess vitamins?

It's all going through the digestive tract to be absorbed. There's probably an upper limit, but it would be because it's such a ridiculous amount that it simply couldn't process it all before what you ate made its way out the other end. You'd need to really do it on purpose for that to happen, like *hundreds* of grams in a single sitting. Like three whole chickens' worth or some shit.

    who cares
just work out how much you then a day then divide that by how many meals you eat

One thing that can be said about the protein amount in one sitting is that around 30g per meal seem to be enough to elevate muscle protein synthesis (for a few hours) and anything beyond 30g does not trigger a stronger MPS response. So in theory, if you were to have 6 meals spread throughout the day and each meal has at least 30g of protein, you would have elevated MPS throughout the entire day (that you are awake).

how the frick do you think people can do OMAD if it's true? if you could only absorb 20-30g of the protein these people would make virtually no gains.

and instead of believeing moronic tiktok broscience you could also just literally google it.
it also makes no evolutionary sense that every meal where over x amount of protein is consumed it would be just completely wasted.

on a theoretical level there's probably some evidence that suggest eating 6 meals a day with x protein amount is like 0,5% more effective but in practice you will not see any benefits or negatives whichever way you decide to eat.

I've done OMAD for years trying to hit all my calories, micros and macros in one massive meal. It helped me stay lean but I grew very slowly if at all. Once I switched to having more meals I put on muscle faster.

im literally reading RIGHT NOW a study that's showing a group of women consuming their protein intake in 4 meals per day vs a group that consumed 80% of the daily protein in one meal and the researchers found that the one meal group had greater protein synthesis rate than the group that split it into 4 meals.

Research has shown that protein synthesis will become refractory to constantly elevated levels of amino acids. Can google it yourself. The takeaway here is that even ACTUAL studies and scientific researches are broscience tier and you have studies showing the polar opposites. To me this is a sign that it doesn't really matter or it has virtually zero impact in practice so essentially it doesn't really matter.

Your duodenum (right after the stomach sphincter) is the part of the intestine where enzymes break the protein down into its amino acids which are then absorbed in the rest of the small intestines. It can process approximately 40g protein/hour.

Your stomach can control the rate that it sends food to the duodenum but if you eat too much protein it will overwhelm the enzymes in the duodenum and move to the small intestines where it cannot be processed. It’ll then pass to the large intestines where bacteria will eat it, giving you protein farts as a side-effect.

Caffeine can "activate" your rectum, making it feel like you need to shit. Your poopoo isn't actually "ready" yet tho, so it comes out too wet. Try not to peepee poopoo right after caffeine, the feeling goes away after a few minutes, and your poo returns to it's regular schedule.

Caffeine can have a laxative effect as any other stimulant. Nicotine too, I’ve seen some vape packages with a similar warning on the back

It's proven that 30g of protein is adequate to maintain muscle on an Olympian athlete. 60g is the most protein you need.

It is true. ISTgays will hate me for saying this simple truth, but protein is overrated. The whole "1g per lb of bodyweight" is bullshit. You can achieve your body's maximum potential by eating less than 100g of protein per day as long as its all spaced out throughout the day. If you eat a lot at once, lots of it will just get converted to glucose for energy instead of repairing muscle tissue. It cheaper to eat a high carb moderate protein diet, or high fat moderate/low protein ketogenic diet than to eat your typical gymbro dry skinless chicken breast diet, and its also more enjoyable. Skinless chicken breast is honestly the most overrated piece of shit food ever shilled on this board

It's not true. You can only absorb a certain amount of whey on an empty stomach because it spends almost no time in your gut. If you eat a 100g of protein in the context of a large meat heavy meal you will absorb all of it. Of course a typical nutrition science researcher moron would use junk like whey protein to make some broad assertion about our digestive capabilities.

Proof of this is OMAD. I did OMAD carnivore for 6 months and kept my gains and my arms improved a little bit. I've eaten ~150g protein a day for years. Just shows how much bullshit gets floated around the internet by pseudo-scientists.

Excess protein past a certain point is pointless, it just gets excreted as waste, but that point is way higher than 30g in one sitting.

It's BS, I used to have one scoop of protein twice a day. Now I eat the whole tub in one sitting, effectively filling my protein requirements for the whole month. Same gains, although you do get a bit bulkier for the first week.

    It’s false and moronic
If you eat 8000 calories in a sitting, you absorb 8000 calories, not just the first X amount
