Gym Dilemma

I tried going to the gym but I need to buy a membership. Not a problem right? Well I also need to be a legal adult. I recently turned 18 so again that's not a problem right? Well apparently in Alabama and in specifically only Alabama and Nebraska you're considered a minor till you're 19. That means I'd need to get my dad involved but I'd also have to explain to him that I snuck out to go to the gym twice. He likely wouldn't care too much but he'd tell my mom and my mom is way too overprotective + she's a mash freak. The stress from involving my parents makes me want to just ghost the gym, continue walking though the neighborhood, and just buying my own equipment over time but I want the social experience of going to a gym. Do I have the right idea or am I just being a pussy?

      They already know I'm 18.

      >social experience of going to a gym
Unless you are a social butterfly there is no such thing. Maybe you will small talk to some guy sometimes but its rare and nothing of value is lost (in most cases).
Other than that, you need to be over the legal age to post in this website, which you are not. Go back.

The gym has a lot of group activities and shit.
      >you need to be over the legal age to post in this website, which you are not. Go back.
      Does that really count?

        >They already know i'm 18.
        Go to another.
        >The gym has a lot of group activities and shit.
Do you expect you will participate on them? It's not reasonable.
        >does that really count?
I doubt it, but it should. In agreements "legal age" adapt to the county or country you are in unless further details are given. If in Alabama you are not of legal age and you live in Alabama, you are not of legal age.

          >Go to another.
That's the only one that's still open in walking distance. I can't drive yet and I can't afford to regularly buy transporation.
          >>The gym has a lot of group activities and shit.
Is there something wrong with group exercise?

fren, remember this. this biggest people in the gym are the friendliest. we have been dyel skellies/landwhales and ascended through years of failure and hard work. we want nothing more than to have newbies ask us for advice on their form because we love lifting and enjoy talking about it, improving ourselves and helping newbies learn to love the process too. The c**ts at the gym are usually the small zoomers who haven't learnt gym etiquette, or their place in the gym hierarchy, from years of being mogged. That said, normies don't give a frick. They're in their own world grinding their workout out. At most they'll look at a fat guy and think "yeah good for you, bro". But you are acting like a homosexual. You want to be fricking jacked, no? If so you will have to step out of your comfort zone w.r.t. your parents and anxiety. If you do not do this, you will remain a chubby homosexual. If your parents act like c**ts, there's always calisthenic routines alongside a caloric deficit until you're 19, which would get you in a good position for then. Do not buy your own equipment. You probably can't afford any that will provide meaningful workouts. But most importantly you NEED the experience of training in a gym. You need to go through the process of being a fricking lardc**t and breaking past it, to step out of your comfort zone and to let the brofessers show you on your way.

If this is a larp post I will find you, rape you, crush your skull, defecate in your corpse, take said corpse to your parents.

          Thank you for the response.

I don't know how to ride one. My older has autism so my parents gave all their attention to teaching him how to do ride a bike. By the time they started caring about me I was at the age where I would've been bullied for using training wheels or anything so I didn't want to learn because I wasn't thinking ahead when I was 8. I know it's not to late to learn but I'd make myself look even more moronic than I do already.
              >If it is within a mile from your home it's walkable distance, stop being lazy.
The one I'm talking about is 2 miles away. All the other gyms aside from one that closed are well beyond that. IDK where you think I live if you think there's multiple gyms within every square mile.

Confront your parents (particularly your mother). Do you want to be weak forever? I don't mean physically.

I will confront her when I'm not a poorgay that can't provide for myself.

I live in Nebraska and I rode my bike to the gym and got a membership at 13

If you can't afford transportation you can't afford equipament for a home gym.
            >is there something wrong with group exercise?
Group exercise is meant for ladies in their 30's to pretend that they are doing anything in the gym without too much effort so they can keep eating like a pig with a excuse. Someday they will wake up frustrated that they are not getting better and just decide to skip gym for one day, which eventually snowball in they stopping going but not cancelling membership because "its just a break. When i have time i will go back real quick". If you are hoping to improve and not just create more excuses they are not for you.

When you are young years feel long but it'll fly by in no time. Just get a pull up bar and get lean, do body weight for a while. Or just get your speech to 100 and ask your mom. If she loved you then it wouldn't be a problem

I ride my bike to and from the gym every session and have a comp squat of 230kg at ~105kg bw. the worst thing about cardio is how fricking BORING it is, may as well kill three birds with one stone and get a warm up/cool down too

For me personally I can tolerate cardio cause I can just throw on some new IST recs for entertainment. The hardest part is the current heat. I gotta rest in the shade for a few minutes after a couple hours. God forbid I run out of water without being near a place with free water.
