What are benefits of doing knuckle push ups? I just tried doing some but could only do like 3 because my knuckles start to hurt.

Work up to it off of a wall, counter, coffee table etc.
I find them hard now because I haven't been doing them but before I found them easier than palms flat.
Do you squeeze your fost when doing them?
Thanks bros
Okay
hand, grip and wrist gains. fold up a towel or something to put your hands on.
Do Isometric holds at a lower point for the knuckle push ups for around 5 counts down, start with grass or soft surface first and build up to 20 before moving on to a harder surface like wood then the same before going for concrete. If you hurt your knuckles as in sharp pain comes from touching them, take two days off at most before continuing to strengthen them and come back stronger.
Benefits: Stronger knuckles for punching and bigger Range of Motion for push ups.
>What are benefits of doing knuckle push ups?
your knuckles get harder so you hit harder.
>I just tried doing some but could only do like 3 because my knuckles start to hurt
first you do it on soft surface like grass then later move on if your knuckles are hardened.
They hurt my wrists less than regular push ups.
for me it is quite the opposite somehow. also I can do slightly more pushups on my knuckles.
prolly cause your wrists are not aligned right
Early onset arthritis.
It can give you arthritis?
Sounds like an old wives tale
Are you 12? Why would you do le harder than it looks exercise that is guaranteed to frick up your knuckles?
>wanting it to be easy
>being unironically moronic
no im just normal moronic
>guaranteed to frick up your knuckles?
???
>frick up your knuckles
anon...mats and towels are a thing...
also it's a way to slightly increase your ROM by few inches (3-5 inches), works on wrists stability and strength and believe-it-or-not it's actually safer for your wrists because you don't put your bodyweight into bending your wrists backwards like you do in a normal pushup
Knuckle push-ups are all I've been doing for well over a decade since I started having wrist pain from flat hand. Added benefit of slightly higher range of motion leading to a better stretch in the pecs. Usually do them with thick books under my fists while still trying to touch my chest to the floor for even more rom. When that's too easy, throw some shit into a backpack and keep on going. It really is a perfect exercise.
came to IST, learned something today. Thanks lads.
Im a 100kg fat frick
Doing these doesnt hurt my knuckes, but my fingers dig into my palm and it hurts like hell
bro i'm 105 kg but I can do them properly without pain. try a softer surface. For the record, I couldn't do more than 25 push ups in a row to save my life but this applies to regular push ups as well.
Benefits:
>incresed range of motion
>conditionated knuckles
>easier on the wrists
Just do 3 and then switch back to normal push ups, this way you'll be able to do more in a few weeks.
slightly easier on the wrists than normal pushups, toughens the skin on your knuckles which is good for combat (mostly striking) sports. if you don't care for martial arts or don't have wrist problems, you can skip training these
