has anybody been scammed or cheated at a gym? post experiences

Yesterday i decided to start going to the gym, i used to work out at home but decided to get the real thing.
>walk in gym
>tell the receptionist its my first time and i wanna just test it out and and stuff
>she says sure
>begin walking around and try going on the bench press
>some guy asks if he wants to spot me and starts talking about going to the gym
>suddendly i start going full-paranoia mode and remember how in italy and europe people will come up to tourists, give them like a bracelet "for free", then start demanding money to scam you
>let out kinda of a laugh or a chuckle because i predicted his bracelet plan
>go to the toilet to "wash my hands"
>walk out of the gym

Should i just buy a home gym or something? this is the closest gym in my town that i can walk to and i dont want to have my money cheated

Sounds like he was going to try to sell you window cleaner as 'steroids'. You're better off working out at home.

Wife tried to cancel her gym membership because he disability made it hard to use regularly. They gave her one hell of a hard time and she only succeeded because she modified the contract before signing it. Keep in mind anons that you do not have to sign any contract as is. You can write corrections on it before you sign and it's legal to do so.

I mean, hypothetically, there's a chance that the guy was a Personal Trainer who may have then tried to charge you for a training session... but I don't think that's legal. Gypsies who usually run those scam in Europe are able to because they are inherently criminals and they're not threatening to go to the police to make you pay, but rather they'll summon a hoard of gypsies to beat the frick out of you and rob you if you don't.

I should add, the main scams you need to watch out for in NA are:
          >person comes up to you in a long line for [Thing] and claims to have bought [Thing] but they don't actually need it, and will sell it to you
          >beggar has a clear cup of change infront of them, and are set up next to a staircase or a drain, if you kick the cup by accident they will claim that there was a LOT more money in it than there actually was
          >if someone comes up to you in the dark and asks the time, just give them your best recollection of the time and claim your phone is dead, trust me

I'd laugh at the beggar if he tried to scam me this way. I'd just say "if there was a lot of money in the cup, you'd already be high as frick tweaking or nodding out"

              >whiteknights surround you
              >HEY BRO, HAVE A HEART WILL YOU
              >Buddy she needs that money to feed her 8 babies, didn't you read the sign?
              etc.
You can still probably walk away but there's a chance someone will try to fight you or random bystanders will give her money in your place out of pity (still a win for the scammer)

How are people so fricking moronic that they cannot even function in a public setting. Did you start to hyperventilate and shit yourself when the front desk girl gave you a tour because you thought she was trying to hit on you or something? Do you spill you spaghetti when the waitress asks what you will like for dinner?

I had the "free" bracelet given to me by some buddhist monk looking guy in NYC. I refused to pay and just gave the bracelet back.

Gym experience when I was 17
    >started training maybe 6-10 months ago
    >Can't even bench the 70lbs in the DB rack
    >buff 5'5 gym guy working there comes up to me
seriously he was smaller than anyone there, but his arms lokked bigger than anyone's there
    >don't know exactly how it started, but I remember I told him that I wanted to grow my triceps
    >Do scullcrushers, but the modified version (bar below the head)
    >Critiques my form and tells me that looks more like a french press
    >ok.jpg
    >tells me that my left arm is weaker than my right arm
    >"wow this guy must know a lot about fitness"
    >offers me a program he would tailor for me
    >the program I had was from the same gym and included only machines since it was made for bloody beginners
    Anyway
    >gives me the program after my specifications
    >tells me that it's gonna cost 50$
    >Seems a lot to me, but as a noob with too much money (from my parents) to spend and never having looked at youtube fitness or any workouts I blunder
    >Follow the program, but later switch to a normal novice program
    >MFW I spent 50$ for a novice program from a 5'5 juice head
He knew that I could've gotten the needed info for free, but decided to scam a noob
Normally I wouldn't talk about this since I'm not even mad at him. It's just the game and the clueless have to learn at some point. It's just for banter, since this thread's theme is layed out that way.
No trust me guys. I wouldn't spit in his face when I see him the next time.

    >be 17 and sign up for gym across from my house
    >get good deal because it's my first time signing up or smth
    >year later and time to renew contract, I literally ask the owner "will the price stay the same" and he says yes
    >shows me new contract a few days later and it's higher, so I tell him "yo you said it would be the same price but this is higher"
    >he says some bullshit that I honestly didn't even listen to because I wasn't going to renew unless the price was the same.
    >tell him no ty I don't want to renew
    >the guy fricking blows up on me, calling me cheap telling me to get out of his fricking gym, accusing me of calling him in a liar etc.. etc...
    >as I'm walking out the cutie receptionists are just both looking at me and I shrug at them
    >guy follows me as I'm leaving still yelling and shit and I call him a pussy and point out that he looks like he is in his mid 30s and he's yelling at a 17 year old.
    >tell me to call him a pussy again so I obviously do because since I live in Canada we don't have guns and shit, don't have to worry about being shot so if he decides to fight me and kick my ass I'd just get a huge pay day.
    >he tells me to frick off and goes back into gym

I didn't get scammed but I guess it kind of counts as him trying to?
