Second this, it will not save you from late norwood stages but it can regrow some terminal hairs and increase density in thinning areas.
Took about 3 months to start noticing some growth, and about half a year until it was noticeable enough for others to see my hairline was less receded.
If you are young and just started balding they may suffice to preserve your hair a bit longer, if youre already fricked you could add it to your regimen on top of fin min or whatever else you take.
As a bonus my dandruff has completely disappeared.

oils are good for the hair for the right person. they will not affect hair loss and shouldnt be used as a treatment for such. but if you have dry scalp and/or dandruff using oils that are similar to our own oils (jojoba oil is my favourite, but coconut is a close second) can be good for your scalp and quite nourishing. Should be used in tandom with a reduction of shampoo/conditioner if used to treat dry scalp.

    useless for hair loss.

Using rosemary, coconut or jojoba oil on your hair will have absolutely no effect on natural hair loss.

when do you put the oil in? after a shower? do you wait for your hair to dry?

I put the oil into my shampoo, but I don't think it matters when or how you do it. You do need a carrier to bring the oil to your scalp though, because the oil is very potent and doesn't spread easily. I think most sites recommend using castor oil or something like that.

      moron take
      >combining an oil
      >with shampoo, a known oil stripper

jesus just don't speak next time
rosemary oil actually helps closed, either clogged or simply not yet peaked hair follicles open and release new hair strand. I literally have a whole new crown of baby hairs around my foreline, and gained at least 0.3-0.5cm of advancement in some areas such as temples.

btw you don't need to purchase the expensive essential oils. You can also purchase the herb itself as a dried spice or as a plant and boil it in water with other ingredients known to improve hair growth, ginger, cloves, garlic, basil, sage...etc etc...

Never apply an oil based product in conjunction with a stripper agent, you're supposed to leave-in those products as long as possible between washes.

        Anonymous

Not all shampoos are a stripping agent, but even those that are will be effective if you put oil in. It's not like it's totally useless to put it in there. You can feel the effect of the oil long after you've washed it out; same with ketoconizol shampoo.

how much oil do you use?

10-12 drops per 3.5 fl oz, give or take.

do you understand the point of giving advice? Most people on here will use regular run of the mill store shampoos which contain strippers.
Learn to take criticism with dignity.
Hair growth tinctures are best used as leave-ins and must not be stripped or washed out instantly. Matter of fact, I recommend to boil the concoction and fill it in a spray bottle, to be applied daily and left in for as long as possible.

Advocating for an active ingredient to be washed out instantly is literal israeli cosmetic industry tricks, like those hair masks they tell you to leave on for 2-3 mins when a good half an hour would actually serve its purpose.

I've been using peppermint oil and rosemary oil in olive oil (about 3-5%) and leave it in for about 30 minutes before showering
Haven't noticed a difference in the few months.

If rosemary oil has the same effects as Finasteride, wouldn't you risk the same sides from inhibited dht levels?
Just curious, otherwise wouldn't oral fin be easier to stick to?

      Anonymous

Finasteride works by blocking the conversion of testosterone into DHT. Minoxidil and literally every other topical treatment like oils work by stimulating blood to the follicle. This is why using fin and min together is recommended. It's a two-punch treatment; same for finasteride and any other topical treatment.

This, basically. These oils replace min, not fin.

So it would make sense to take rosemary oil and fin as a combo?
Does this mean you'd have to be uber consistent with the oil in the same way as you would be with him to avoid losing hair gains and entering a shedding phase?

It's the all or nothing bit of min that wigs me out., if rosemary have the same issues then I might just skip it and hope fin+ microneedling will help recover like 1cm of tiny hairs and prevent further loss.

Rosemary/peppermint/min work as growth stimulants. When the stimulant is gone, the growth goes back to normal. So yeah, you need it every day at least.

Thanks for confirming, I'd love to use min/oil bit mu schedule is too tight rn to incorporate faily/ twice a day application. Maybe later down the line for me.

What do you mean all or nothing? The instructions say to use min twice a day, but you really only need to apply it once, but even then if you miss a day your hair isn't all going to fall out that night.

By all our nothing I guess I mean that if you miss a day or two it can end up destroying your progress and potentially making things worse. I guess technically Finasteride seems to be the same way but at least oral administration is extremely easy whereas you might be fricked with Min if you're traveling or doing a camping trip or something.

Bruh literally just massage it on your head when you brush your teeth. It takes under two minutes to apply. You only even have to do it once a day because that gets you 80% the gains anyway.

Taking fin/taking min or taking both is literally going all or nothing. You either shed your hair permanently (which happened to many people, look it up) or you somehow maintain for a year maybe (no progress anywhere online of good results after more than a year, people still lose their hair anyway, hell even transplanted hair follicles die 90% of the time)

for what? it wont grow your lost hair back...
also look out for allergic reactions, burns and rashes, I used a dozen or so different essential oils for my feet and some of them are really aggressive (rosemary, thyme, cinnamon, to name a few)

currently using 1-5% vinegar at the start of shower (I rinse it at the end) and teak tree oil after for dadruff - its not a miracle but helps keeping it in check
