they would otherwise need to be much larger than the hole they are covering to be unable to fall in diagonally.

Personally I enjoy these threads, I like seeing how every day these tech workers/IT/software engineers/whatever other tech jobs have to come on here and immediately start bragging about their jobs and how much money they make, because I know they have literally nothing else in their lives. No family, no friends, no relationships, solitary hobbies that keeps them in solitude, work from home in solitude. Literally the only thing they have to talk about is how much money they make. But it makes me happy thinking about how no matter how high their salary is, no matter what car or house they own by age 22, however many millions they collect, they will always be alone and miserable loser nerds with no friends, gf, wife, or family.

im doing this but i already have my kids and house paid off and no dept. i just want a telework job. i used to work tech but quit because all the female, troony, and Black person homosexualry. im sort of starting over now though to relearn/get caught up on everything. just got a+,n+,s+ to get some basic job while i move on to cysa+ and other security shit. going to start applying next week.

i was thinking about ceh but that company/website looks like a fricking joke. is it find to stick to comptia and isc2? dont really want cisco either unless im actually going to be working on it

also picked up some programming in the last five months so i have that too

SANS certificates are the gold standard for cybersec, however they're really expensive. ISC2 is also great, CISSP is the most recognized cert there is, however you need 5 years experience. CEH is recognized, the content however is mediocre. If you want to get into pentesting then have a look at the Offensive Security certs like OSCP. Also AWS certs are always great such as Security Specialty.
      CompTIA is alright.

        are you european or american?

ive heard that before but cissp but never bother to check what people mean. they actually check your job history? how does that work? does it have to be just it or security focused? also isnt cissp management focused and not even really tech? why is everyone always dick riding it?

anyway if you dont respond. i was going to say you sound european because ive never heard of sans and had to looks it up. from the site, all the different certs they have, and the price, it seems to be a company that exists to grift the us government. i like the looks of comptia and isc2 because they are vendor neutral and dont have two dozen certs all slightly different from each other

i was going to get ceh, ordered the book but realized it was right before they changed exams and it was now out of date. i looked at the site though and i think ive changed my mind. look at these fricking guys. i cant even figure out how to get their cert and what all their difference pricing tiers even mean

          https://www.eccouncil.org/train-certify/certified-ethical-hacker-ceh/

anyway, correct me if im wrong about the european and sans thing

I'm a Sr cybersec engineer in Europe, yes.
However I work for an US company. SANS certificates are globally extremely recognized.
Have a look at this roadmap, it will give you a great idea: https://pauljerimy.com/security-certification-roadmap/
          Also check pic rel.

Regarding CISSP, yes you need to provide proof that you have 5 years of experience in IT and cybersec. You can do the exam beforehand, but you will only be granted the actual cert once you provided this proof, completed the exam, and have someone endorse you that is already ISC2 certified (yes, this is actually required). CISSP is not an entry level cert.
And you are right about CEH, the company that created this cert (EC-Council) is a bunch of indians with a terrible website and bad translations.

ok thanks for the info. i have six years working as a tech in the military where about 1/2 was normal it stuff including a lot of secret clearance stuff. i could prove that easily with my record but it may not be enough.

the top stuff is all clearly manager shit and not really IT which means they are really hiring the work experience for top level positions. no idea ceh was that popular though holy shit. its the top level non-manager tech cert on that list. may ill knocked it out after cysa+ since it seems pretty easy

casp is also a lot higher than i thought it would be too since its comptia. they seem to have a pretty good reputation with security now

why in the hell did ceh get so popular? im almost inclined to believe something is inflating those numbers somehow

              Anonymous

This list is only listing the most popular certs that were found in job ads, it's not necessarily a reflection of the best certs. It does give some idea however on what the market is looking for.

CISSP is not purely a manager cert, it is the most recognized cybersec cert in general. For example I'm not a manager and I'm currently doing the CISSP.

CEH basically got so popular because it's been around for a long time now, and also it has "Hacker" in the name, which sounds really cool to clueless recruiters and non-techies.

Among security professionals, EC-Council is considered somewhat of a joke. The most respected certs are from ISC2, ISACA, and SANS/GIAC, with SANS/GIAC having the most technical certs. However if your employer doesn't pay for it, and you are looking for technical cybersec certs, going with CompTIA sure doesn't hurt.

i actually was thinking that it would hurt it when i first thought about getting it. guess i underestimated how stupid hr roasties are

anyway yeah i quite my last job and have spent the last six months retooling to get back into IT, learning some programming and getting certs that i can afford. just want a telework job, i dont even care about the pay
