High Zinc Intake with no Side Effects

I take 120mg of zinc daily and don't have side effects.

The trick is to segment it throughout the day instead of just taking it all at once (because then you get a nasty headache).

I eat a lot of complex carbohydrates and drink a ton of water, so others might not be able to handle as much. I am also 5ft 10 at 160 pounds so if you are significantly smaller you might also try less.

I tried 160mg spaced throughout day and had a slight headache but not a severe one. I find I get most of the benefits and none of the bullshit at 120mg.

Don't take more than 30mg or so at one time and you'll probably be fine

I cycle all my supplements 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. Your probably right though but with Zinc I'm willing to wait until I feel anything bad before I dial back.

I'm taking my copper as well from my multivitamin and foods to absorb it better, but I am not supplementing it directly, so it's possible that I am only absorbing a healthy amount of zinc and the rest is passing straight through me. Like copper is the bottleneck here.

However, I feel a mad positive difference between 30mg daily and the 120mg I'm taking now, so unless it's placebo I feel like I'm definitely absorbing the lot of it. At the very least, I'm absorbing far more than the recommended maximum of 40mg, and I'm not a super huge guy either so I think I'm good.

Everything? Multi vita included? Creatine too? Pretty good results?

I do not take creatine. If I do then I will cycle it very lightly. I do not want my body to stop it's absorption/production of natural creatine.
I haven't really done much research on it however, and if my concerns end up debunked or rationalized then I may start, but I have no intention on doing so, my gains have been coming fine so long as I stay full stomach all the time

          >inb4 this is a israeli plot to harm the zinc industry

          >enjoy your copper and iron deficiency

Copper and Iron deficiency is your only concerns? I've already explained those.
I eat a lot of seafood and get over the daily amount from my Multivitamin alone. Zinc definitely outweighs them in terms of proportionality when it comes to daily intake but I've never seen someone supplementing 4mg of copper from pills alone have a copper defficency, even if it is all being absorbed.

The only other concern that you didn't mention but I have thought off was having too much metal in my body, which would be valid however I don't think it stays in your system as long as people think with all the water I drink.

Even the amount of Zinc that makes it into my bloodstream and just sits there should theoretically never pile up to the point of being too much unless I literally megadose and power through all the headaches that causes. I also cycle zinc 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off like I do with all my supplements, so I doubt this will ever be a real issue.

Are you not worried about copper deficiency?

      Anonymous

I get a lot from the stuff I eat, magnesium supplement, and my multivitamin.
According to the labels, I get around 4mg of copper throughout the day without including the food.

I'm definitely far above normal levels for people on both ends but I probably am a little skewed in zincs favor.

Initially, I clicked on this post to moralize morons like you about the fact that the body doesn't work on a strict 1:1 basis, and putting more into it doesn't necessarily equate with more of whatever was happening before. Then I realized this was the natural process of selection taking place. So now, I say godspeed anon.

can you elaborate? I made this thread for a reason.

selection implies that the losers don't adapt or question their behavior, which means the others live on generation after generation. As far as I know I am not feeling anything bas and have been taking 120mg for about a week and a half. Can you elaborate a little more so I can become informed, or at the very least understand the issue you think there is?

It's very rare that people have copper deficiency, the opposite is true in fact. Most people consume too much copper. Also, zinc hinders absorption of copper, but doesn't really effect copper level in the blood. So, if you take zinc with dinner, you still with get copper from your breakfast and lunch. Don't worry about iron too, zinc's effect on iron levels are insignificant, unless you consume ridiculous amounts of zinc of course.

I read somewhere most people get copper from the trace amounts in water pipes. If I'm really worried could I just go to home Depot get a cheap pipe and lick it like an ice cream cone?

    What does zinc do exactly?

      Anonymous

acts as a key component in immune system components. Excess zinc just gets shunted to the balls and makes lots of CUM

So hypothetically, if you took finasteride and zinc at the same time, that offset the sexual sides then?

          Anonymous

Zinc is a 5a-reductase inhibitor like finasteride. So taking extra zinc supplements makes finasteride even stronger than before.

how much magnesium are you taking?

      Anonymous

3x 500mg pills throughout the day
They also have a little copper and iron in them, but only around 1/4 of the daily total for each.
(all three only total up to 0.37mg of copper)

Copper deficiency is super rare but does exist with megadosers of certain medicines and supps. I still take a lot of copper to help absorb the zinc but proportionally little compared to the 120mg of zinc. I'm not willing to take any more copper since I feel I would have too much and I'm already not sure if I already do.

        >Copper deficiency is super rare
        No.

Did you know that the copper content of vegetables dropped 75% from 1940 to 1990? Meats and fruits also had large drops. Imagine the extra drop from 1990 to 2023. The soil got depleted of copper from over farming.

The food quality here in the US is the worst I've ever had in any country. It blows my mind that Americans put up with it.

Meanwhile a supermarket in China has 5 different kinds of tomatoes, 10 different kinds of mushrooms, a frickoad of fruit. The options are endless and the food tastes good.
