Love my technogym. Still in early stages. Gotta put down flooring, put in storage and decorate.

I still go to my main gym 1-2x a week for big lifts, sled pushes and tire flips etc but this does very nicely for the daily workouts.

You dont need big room for home gym

My normal gym is free, because it comes with my job.
A home gym is a lot more than $300. Like you would need about $100 for bench and 40 lbs of adjustable dumbbells. About $30 for a doorway pull-up bar. About $200 for rubber mats. About $100 for a barbell. About $400 for barbell plates ($1/lb), and $500 for a squat rack if you build it yourself. Then, on top of that, you will be paying for the space of your house that became your home gym.

So a home gym costs about $1330 of an initial investment, and about $1.50/square foot per month for the space cost. And you’ll probably want more than I listed, like cables and more plates for your adjustable dumbbells. Maybe build a deadlifting platform.

You aren't good with your money my guy.

            Anonymous

So where are my assumptions wrong, and how much do they change the cost?
I used the cost of space as the opportunity cost of using as a home gym vs renting out the space.
Strictly speaking, you can get results with just the bench and dumbbells. Even then, all you need for results are a couple of chairs, some books, and a bag (all of which you already have, so “minimum home gym for results” is free).
I think lifting barbells and heavier loads is more fun, though. So I costed for the minimum to continue with that. I even grossly underestimated the cost of building your own squat rack because lumber and steel costs are greatly inflated right now.

              Anonymous

Because your assumptions are just insane cope after insane cope.
              >Muh house floor is cost!
Ah yes because I'd do so much with it, perhaps I'll set up an exposition about how BLM is good, as I am an American pig and my culture is about worshipping Black folk.
              >Muh bench!!
Even if you can build a power rack(better) for cents (well, outside the land of the mutt), dumbbell bench is superior.
              >muh 30 buckerinos door pull-up bar!
Shit, also see above (once more, I assume good monetary skills and IQ required for basic building, something far beyond what an ameriisraelite can do).
              >200$ rubber mats
Actual brain damage here, you barely need that much rubberats, but I assume the little amerigoblin needs his branded rogue mats. 30 tops if second hand, 50 if first hand.
              >400$ for Barbell!!
              Second hand? Impossible.
Anything but branded rogue 51mm pl8s? I'll be dyel unless I spend all of that!!
Ameriisraelite brain. I got 160kg worth of plates for well under 200e, including 2 bars and 4 adjustable dumbells, once more the concept of monetary management ELUDES the amerimutt.

Seriously, you are so American it physically hurts. Go to a public gym, hopefully you find the black man that will finally kill you.

Love my technogym. Still in early stages. Gotta put down flooring, put in storage and decorate.

I still go to my main gym 1-2x a week for big lifts, sled pushes and tire flips etc but this does very nicely for the daily workouts.

if I owned my own place and have space, i'd absolutely get that thing. I workout at home only but the one thing I miss I had were machines, more importantly cables for flies/rows

Are you getting actual weights? I prefer kettlebells and my goal gym is my kettlebells + calithestics stuff (dip bars, pull up bars, rings) and a fly machine, perhaps that one you have

        Anonymous

I might invest in some kettlebells. Right now I just go to a local gym 20min away for kbs, free weights, pull-ups etc

    False.
Home gyms are essential to Ubermensch lifestyle. There are no commutes to drain time and energy. There are no waits for machines. Because of these factors, you can truly maximize you time in the gym and get a full work out in well under an hour. There are no distractions or other humans to deal with. Plus, you can play music, shadow box, and smoke bud as you work out. Probably cheaper in the long run when you account for time, gas, and gym fees.

The most funny thing is that there are people who STILL don't have a home gym even after crying for 2 years straight about their gym either being shut or forcing masks. You can't reason with these people, they are so stupid they WANT to be extorted by gym israelites and they have emotional breakdowns if they can't go to their goygyms.

I have worked out in many different gyms over the years.

Definitely prefer the peace and quiet of my own home. Could go to a gym but usually exercise in the morning right after waking up and then work.

I like gyms but this way I can eat and work immediately after and have equipment to lift with. Don't have to drive anywhere to lift but I live and work out in the woods anyways.

I used to dream about building a home gym but I’ve become addicted to thot watching. I go at prime time because I need a decent variety of asses to peruse while I lift.

      Anonymous

This, but it's because I'm an incel and occasionally making eye contact with thots at the gym is the only interaction I ever have with women.

Also, changing environments is a significant factor in productivity for me. The ritual of leaving the house and driving to the gym makes it easier to focus on lifting only. Lifting at home, it's easy to get distracted by pets, chores, etc.

And the last reason why I like commercial gyms is the amount of equipment. With my home gym, I had a power rack with a dip attachment and cheap adjustable dumbbells. It was always a pain in the ass to form a routine because almost every program out there assumes availability of pulleys and machines for accessories. Obviously I could have gotten creative with some bands, but still there's many exercises where that doesn't work.
      >But public gyms are crowded reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
      Don't go during peak hours

Gyms are gross. They’re full of a bunch of people getting their sweat all over the place. Don’t even get me started on the thots. They wear those skin tight yoga pants, get sweaty and rub their sweaty pussies and ass cracks all over the equipment. I’ve seen them leave snail trails on the benches. Nasty.

Millions of people had their gyms closed off and on over the past couple of years so bought gym equipment.
Only a loser like OP would turn the above factual statement into evidence of some imagined deep-seated character flaw.
Btw I've met two park-bros just going to walk when the weather's nice. Maybe try going outside yourself sometime.

I bought a rack, barbell and plates because I was sick of having to do rounds looking the a plate I needed, coming back and seeing some gay had stolen my rack, having to do warm-ups for 10 minutes until a rack became open and then getting a set in before repeating the cycle.
At home, I get all my shit done in an hour, wear what ever the frick and openly call the barbell a Black person when I hit my pr.

My gym at the moment is a squat rack that I use as a bed and a table (kotatsu.) On pull days, I use the back of the squat rack, but on push days where I bench I need to put the table away in order to use the safety bars which gives the opportunity to wash my sheets and blankets. I lie on an electric blanket too which adds heat to the kotatsu, traditionally they have heaters underneath the tabletop but I'm lazy so the blanket is the best way. The table is essentially two planks of wood, covered in two blankets making a drape over the entire table, and another plank of wood on top. I also have a nice tv to watch tucker sometimes. It's comfy tbh and efficient.

Nice troll, but I own my own house (Toronto), and my garage gym lets me lift anytime I want, all year, with no waiting, my own music, etc. Here's my typical day:

    1. Go outside with my water, pipe filled with a nice pipe tobacco
    2. Set up my first W/U set (empty bar for at least 2 sets of 5), put on some metal or house music or a podcast
    3. Alternate between W/U sets and setting up my charcoal chimney
    4. Work through my program while the coals light, puttering around the yard as well, maybe even push the mower around. Wave hi to the neighbours. Puff occasionally on my pipe. Very relaxing.
    5. Daughter will come out and use the weights like monkey bars while I start cooking the day's protein on the grill.
    6. Finish up my workout and keep an eye on the meat, moving it to a large cutting board when it's ready (which is waiting with a board sauce of lemon juice, olive oil, arugula, sliced vegetables, garlic and more rub)
    7. Wash hands and eat my well-earned meal at my patio table with my kid, as she tells me excitedly about her day (she's eleven).
    8. Throw all the disposable dishes straight in the trash, close up garage, and head inside to work for the night (editing novels).

Makes my life VERY good. And I can see the pride on my daughter's face that her daddy is the strongest one in her school.

I walk to my local gym on foot. If it rains, I use my car. The gym is located in a former stadium, so the ceiling is high and there's plenty of room for machines. We even have a boxing ring. I got a couple buddies to spot me and chat if we hop in sauna after we're done. All the maintenance is done by gym personnel. If something breaks, the staff will replace it, not me.
I don't see any benefits of home gym that would make me invest into one. Unless your city's gym is ridiculously far, ridiculously small, ridiculously shit, or if you get irritated by people being around you.
Whenever this debate comes up people are just hurling insults towards each other. I guess it's hip to do so.
