I have a bike and I ride it and I progressively overload with it. I'm not a lycra gay but I like them because they know what they're doing. The casuals are always in the way and shit.

In my experience, yes. It's the commuters and fairweather strollers that are always in the way. Of course I laugh at the people buying lycra even though they're fat and slow but I don't have a problem passing them so it's whatever.

How are you dealing with the chafing without chamois? Surely it’s uncomfortable as hell, all to avoid looking like a Lycragay. Surely this isn’t worth it, unless you’re only cycling for 30 minutes a go, in which case you probably shouldn’t opine about cycling gear.

Circuits. Maybe do it as a group fitness challenge. Cardio can be everything from rooning to swimming to jumping jacks to burpees, pacer testing and board balancing. If you're too moronic to organize something like that, or you lack friends, maybe pick up field sports. Football and soccer are goated popular sports. Skiing and snowboarding are good too, but can be expensive if you don't have easy access to a snowy mountain.
Bike riding in woodland trails is pretty cool too. Just live a little you boring unimaginative frick.

r u supposed to get it during or only after?

i've been doing pretty intensive elliptical for 20 minutes every day for almost a month and it makes me feel very good for the rest of the day. but during it it's still kinda a chore

Runners high isnt really what you think it is. But for me it was feeling great after the run, and then wanting to go on another run immediately.
During the run itself it never got that much easier for me. I just listen to 4x 5min songs for a total 20 min run twice a day

i dont know but when I weighed 450 pounds I couldnt do 5 minutes on the bike without laying down and huffing after with sweat everywhere and now at 230 I do 25 miles a day minimum even if I'm fasting (which I don't but I've done before) and like 10-15mph winds, at max I go 10mph but anyways the point is if you do it enough you'll eventually reach a point where you can do 500cals a day and it won't feel like a chore

How do you stop hating it? Stop being a homosexual? I unironically, and I do not care if you believe me, just b***h the entire way, I just b***h, and huff, and moan, and complain while I keep peddling, and then boom I'm halfway, now guess what? I have to go back.... It's typically windy going towards, so coming back is actually fun.

Today all I did was ride at like 2 gear of 21 but never turned around. then on the way home I was chuffing out 20/21 and did the half mark in like 15 minutes instead of 45.

It's okay to turn around every once in a while, when it's really shitty, but you can't turn around 9/10 no matter how dogshit it is

Do it anyway. I've been running 6 mi 2-3 times/wk for over 4 months. It gets a lot easier, but the beginning is always hard getting up to speed. You just have to see it for what it is, very good for you, put on some music you like, and fricking do it

get a treadmill/bike park it in front of your tv it's a bit dystopian but it works. I personally run while listening to books or podcasts so I don't get bored since music doesn't really do anything for me.

    >How can I make cardio fun
3 sets of 10-20 rep squats with 15 seconds of rest
    >and not agonizing torture that just makes you smelly and sweaty?
    You can't.

I am specifically doing cardio so I don’t die doing this shit, running a Renaissance periodization template and quads day is hell. 9 sets of high bar and front squats back to back for 10-20 reps. High set count means short rest periods too.

I would trade that shit for an hour or 3 on a bike everyday. Feels like I’m going to vomit. Hoping that cycling is going to make it easier.

        Anonymous

I don't know why you go through all that when you can just do 3 sets to failure. Not "okay I think that's enough" failure, but "okay the bar is on the pins and my ass is on the ground" failure.
By any means, it makes cycling easier whereas cycling will just waste calories and keep you small.

Disc injury has me keeping weights lighter while I recover, figured I’d try a high volume hypertrophy template while I get my shit back in order. I haven’t aggravated my back in 6 weeks, despite hopping into this program 2 weeks after the injury. That’s worth something to me even if it sucks. Im maintaining weight coming off a bulk (pre injury), so few hundred extra calories to account for the cardio really isn’t a big deal.

            >I haven’t aggravated my back in 6 weeks, despite hopping into this program 2 weeks after the injury.
I doubt that it was an actual disc injury. Anyway, your way doesn't suck. I'm just talking about how optimal it could be. Safer too if you're still worried about your back. Get a good quad preexhaust and you can hit said failure with less weight.

Do a competitive sport instead of mindless running/rowing/cycling/whatever. I play a few rounds of tennis with a friend/colleague of mine after work three times a week. It's just as exhausting as other types of cardio (because you're basically running all the time from one end of the court to the other), but is actually fun instead of just mindless work because we're competing. Same could be done with soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, ping pong etc.

Make it some form of sport as opposed to "tradtional"cardio. Play some futbol/soccer, take up a cardio kickboxing class, etc.

Or if you are too autistic for those things, do traditional cardio like biking or running or swimming, but do it in a less boring setting. For example, trail running as opposed to track.

  37. 1 year ago

Do fun cardio, there are lots of ways, even if some are less effective than others, spending the same amount of time doing something you don't like for marginally better gains is not worth it

  38. 1 year ago
    Anonymous

OP just run almost as slow as you can to start, that way you can build up the habit without feeling like you're dying. You might then find yourself pushing yourself naturally after a few weeks. If you don't then just run at a steady and easy pace (can hold a conversation but it's difficult) for a few hours a week and you'll be getting most of the benefits of cardio. Even professional runners do most of their running "easy". Now you'll cave running and your biggest obstacle will be boredom.

If cardio is agonizing torture you're in awful shape and definitely need it. You can get healthy with zone 2 cardio and you won't even have to push yourself, it's easy.
