    Ive got experience with both.

Home gym cant replace a real gym.

I put about 8k into a home gym in 2017. Ended up selling it when covid happened and shit all jumped up in value and sold the home gym stuff in 2020 for 3X what I paid 3 years earlier, rejoined my local gym again.

That said, my local gym is insane, really fricking good.... its getting harder & harder to find really good gyms, most of them are too small and trash, if your local gym is too small & shit, then I'd go with a home gym, but if your local gym is really big & has tons of shit in it, then I'd pick that over home gym every time.

I'll only ever go home gym again if my local gym for some reason shuts down, there are no other good gyms in my area besides shitty tiny ones with frick all equipment.

2 minutes on foot. When the gym is far I find it much harder to motivate myself to go. It also feels like a huge waste of time - even when the gym is 15 minutes away, that's like 2-3 hours you lose every week needlessly.
I would never set up a home gym but I unironically take gyms into consideration when looking for apartments.

      10 minute walk

      >When the gym is far I find it much harder to motivate myself to go.
Same. Last place I lived was just far enough that I had to drive (or cycle I guess), only a few minutes but just the thought of having to back my car out of the drive was enough that I'd skip workouts now and then.

when i was a kid i used to take a bus and it used to take like 45 minutes one way. that was no problem. then when i got drivers license it was like 25-30 minutes. now i walk to my current gym and its 20 minutes. with a bike like 5-10 minutes. no problem.

its basically not possible for there to be no gym within 30-45 minute radius. so i never really consider a home gym.

I'd set up a home gym if all the gyms within a 30min drive didn't have a power rack, a bench, and a treadmill

There's two about 5 minutes walk from my house, but I choose one about twenty minutes walk away because there's less gays and cardio bawds getting in the way. It's quiet, except for the boxing ring. I'm usually one of only 2-4 people lifting, which is perfect.

I know I shouldn't but I get nervous lifting in front of other people. I was in a gym on Friday night benching with my bro. I was struggling with 1.5 plate. But when I do it and the gym is empty I can do it for reps without a spot. Other people watching makes me perform worse at the gym. I feel nervous of doing stuff I regularly do.

400 meters or 437.445319 yards, or a 5 minute walk at a peaceful pace. Plus i can do groceries on the side since it's in a shopping centre. No Black folk since i live in a small finnish city.

5 minutes walk. I still have a home gym because I'm not always in the mood to see all the gymbros, homosexuals and thots that populate the local gym. So basically my home gym is a very simple setting (bench, free weights, stationary bike, dbells and barbell). I also have a belt for dips and pull-ups. So it can replace my local gym at about 80%.

A little over half an hour by car. Once my contract ends, I'll switch over to the local gym that's only 10 minutes away. Thing is it costs way more per month, but being closer saves me time

7 minutes on foot, it used to be 20 for years and it was still fine.
I guess I would seriously consider a home gym if it was 40 minutes each way, on foot/bike or more than 20 by car.

It honestly depends on how much you have going on in your life. If you're not too busy walking a lot is good for you

I wouldn't want a home gym. I'm more motivated outside of the house, surrounded by other people working out, than I would be at home where I relax.

i just checked google maps and i have 6 gyms that are within a 6 minute drive one of them being planet fitness, esporta (formerly la fitness) and world gym. the rest are local hardcore gyms.
i still have a homegym bc all i really need is squat, bench and deadlifts but ill head over to one of the gyms that are near me or even 15 minutes away if i friends want me to go with them

I used to go to a gym 3 miles away; about a 10 minute drive. That said, having now experienced a home gym, I wouldn't drop it for anything. Having zero restrictions and no travel time is just too convenient.

Same. I think it's because most of the styles are in this weird mid-ground where they are too revealing for normie girls, but not revealing enough for the exhibitionists that wear the microkinis, so you never see them in the wild.
