If they would do it right and care about technique, they wouldn’t take as much weight

        >t. Getting outlifted by a dyel

He has a point but he explained it badly. Most people have weak hamstrings and dogshit mobility. So, over the short term, they can deadlift the most weight by using shit form and pulling with their back. If they were to fix their form, their performance would initially take a hit, but it would also enable serious long term strength and size gains.

I grew up in Vancouver where school was about 50/50 white/asian. This physique on a white guy = Chad, but that face would still leave him ignored but white girls over 5/10 and asians over 7/10. The white girls would say "yeah, he has a good body" while remaining completely unattracted. Pretty much the same observation no-homosexual men would make.

Do powerlifters who are trying to maximize the amount of weight they can move within the rules typically bench with a wider grip or a closer grip? You should have to lift for at least a month before you're allowed to post here.

nah short arms and powerlifting style bench can make DYELs lift quite a lot
OHP is still the hardest for low body weights because shoulders are a relatively small muscle group and higher bodyweight really helps with stability

It is. That's why people find arbitrary copes for why DYEL's are pulling so heavy.

Deadlift is the last stop on your journey to giving up entirely on athleticism and just being a strong fat guy that will lose his gains when he inevitably injures himself and keep eating like he's training during his recovery that he'll never come back from and then die of a heart attack at 60.

You can’t use your strength against fast movement.
Hold your arm out as stiffly as you can and then have some try to push it down slowly and they will struggle, have them quickly smack it down and your arm will go down no matter who you are.

It definitely is, but very imperfect. Bodybuilding is a degenerate self-destructive meme. Powerlifting refuses to have any standards with form and assisted lifts whatsoever. Weightlifting autistically tries to control doping for superficial, pathetic reasons - and this leads to massive corruption, uneven playing fields between countries, and athletes forced to take less-documented drugs.

So I am pretty much done. Everyone on IST is literally rertarded. Everything they say is made up bullshit most likely driven by autism. Every athlete deadlifts and it is a very important exercise. You are so stupid I am not sure how you managed to post a comment.

I go to a powerlifting gym, and I have seen 1 "girl" do 4 plates for reps. Granted she was like 350 pounds, so that's really only a little over body weight... Not impressed... at what cost... etc.

deadlift is pretty damn easy to lift 'heavy' on, and lots of dyels like the ego boost of lifting heavy weight

  12. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

As others have stated, and have gotten odd replies, the reason is likely because of poor form. Much as in any other lift, if you're inexperienced you can lift more than you otherwise would by calling upon other muscle groups you would not use, either because the lift is intended to isolate a specific muscle group or because it has a tendency to cause an injury. For a novice deadlifter they may be able to produce a better lift by rounding their back because they almost certainly have a stronger upper back than lower back, ass, and/or hips. However, as anyone here has probably seen or even felt, that wrong form is guaranteed to produce a slipped disc, likely sooner rather than later.

If you deadlift a lot you will get good at it. Some people also have favorable leverages and proportions which helps them deadlift. If you took a month or two to seriously focus on your deadlift you make gains even if you stay the same weight.

Does trap bar deadlift hit different muscles or something? I tried it today and it felt like a totally different exercise. It was much easier on my hamstrings and felt more lower back focused but not in a way that felt like it could cause an injury.

idk. i can dl 4 using trap but feel like my spine is gonna snap when i do 3 on a normal bar

  23. 2 years ago

All these dumbass answers but the real reason OP is that most DYELs (as in skinny/lanky ones) have relatively short torso and relatively long arms. This produces a very favorable set of leverages for the deadlift and the deadlift is the lift most heavily affected by proportions. Next time you see a DYEL lifting heavy on deads I can guarantee you that if you look, the bar at lockout is at least 2-3 inches below their dick and their torso is not long like a Chinese weightlifter

      Anonymous

      >he bar at lockout is at least 2-3 inches below their dick

More like 6-7 inches. 3 inches below dick is about average. I know a guy who can Sumo deadlift 7 plates for five and he benches 2 plates for 5. He's 205 lbs at 6ft

Grab the bar and push out your chest and pullback your scapula a bit. Get lower and get more explosive glute action for the first part of the movement. Otherwise looks good

      Anonymous

Doesn't look like you're pulling the slack out of the bar

        Anonymous

Yeah because I'm not. I feel like pulling the slack out saps energy I could be using during the lift.

          Anonymous

Well, you asked for form check and that's something you should fix that will have long-term gains and make it into less of a yanking movement. If it doesn't feel good now it's because it's something you're not used too. Not divebombing the eccentric of a squat can also feel more energy intensive but is overall better because you stay tighter the whole lift.

      Anonymous

You'll be a lot more efficient in the movement of you dig your heels in more and sit back like 2 inches. Your legs are completely straight while your hips are only halfway through ROM.
