Dip belts only allow you to do weighted dips and pull/chin ups.
Backpacks arent good for weighted calisthenics. The weights shift around too much and in the apocalypse, by the time you manage to put that shit on, you will have been robbed/killed or some shit.

Dog cans beat dog chow. You'll be having diarrhea for a while but bad water will kill you before dog food does.

Fresh meat > Canned meat > Canned dog food > Dog chow

You can survive off it, but you will not be thriving until your gut biome gets used to it. By then, its probably healthier for you than the average human can.

No one is going to give a shit about staying in shape for the sake of it, certainly no drifter. They are going to be focused on surviving. The lack of food and constant movement will keep them lean and as fit as they can hope to be. No one is going to stay gymcell/roidtroony-level jacked after society collapses.

Nobody is talking about that,in an apocalypse youd still need to be in minimal physical shape so you could still fight, climb which requires upper body strenght and youd still benefit from doing a bit of exercise. Key is a bit,not a lot but just enough without hindering your survival aspects, and mostly likely traditional fitness training instead of weight lifting or serious strenght training

Being outdoors, having no junk food and moving your body 90% of the time is unironically going to keep you in better shape than gymcelling ever will. Add in some calisthenic x failure every day and you’re good. Outside of a modern sedentary lifestyle with unlimited access to tasty food, it’s basically impossible to keep bodyfat on your body so that helps too.
Hunter gatherers were in better shape than the average gymcel is today. If anything gymcels looks weird and uncanny, because their muscles are so clearly “artificial” and only obtained from picking up perfectly measured weights in a perfectly repetitive motion in a perfectly climate controlled building, and then they go home and sit in front of their computer for the other 23 hours of the day.

They couldn't. Watch the movies. It is a constant deterioration of his strength and mental will power.

Omega Man/ I Am Legend had a stronghold and an abundance of rations, he was also a doctor who specialized physiology and biology.
His routine was primary pull-ups and pullup variations.

A Clock Work Orange has the main characters drinking drug enhanced milk to aid them in the ultra violence they take part in.

The Book of Eli has the main character training his senses to a super-human level which is much more important when fighting. The hunting he partakes in also trains his ability with weapons.

Reign of Fire has a lot of fighting which is how all characters stay in shape, constantly fighting with heavy weapons and fighting dragons.

Once you are constantly on the move, you really focus more on survival skills vs staying in shape. how fast you can reload a gun has nothing to do with being in shape. Different skillset. Natty gains last a long time so your muscle would not atrophy for quite some time on a deficit. You also do not want to break down your muscles too much as you won't be able to repair them.

The best routine for myself, if I were a drifter would be: 100 pushups a day, in one set. That would be it for resistance training. A lot of breathing exercises. Ocular exercises, and I would also spend a lot of time, listening to my surroundings.

Keep dreaming. I would make you my Reek.
Do you actually have a survival plan? If so, I would like to hear it.

I'd imagine it would be fairly easy so long as you kept your calories up, you'll naturally have a high protein diet anyway and it's not like you're going to worry about being fat. Some general calisthenics and stuff should be more than enough.

You can't keep you calories up though that's the challenge. Protein provides the lowest calories per gram, and that will be the majority of stuff you hunt/catch. Have you ever heard of rabbit starvation?

If you find a settlement you could make your own weights but if were talking nomadic on the move apocalypse then you're only better is calisthenics and odd weight lifting of any junk you can find. You also want to avoid maxing out because you'll never know if you need energy

It would unironically be very manageable even with food shortages. You would be surprised how little a lot of dudes who are in great shape eat - it's even normal for bodybuilders, while cutting, to eat as little as 1500 calories a day. You can even build muscle eating 2500-3000 a day. Guys like Hugh Jackman and Tommy Fury are full of shit when they claim to be eating 9000 calories per day, when you genuinely eat that much you end up looking like Eddie hall or Brian Shaw, those are bloatlord level of calories. Nobody with a six pack really eats more than 3000 despite what they might claim on Instagram

But aside from the food situation there's no reason you couldn't just work out as normal. Calisthenics are always available and heavy objects to move from point a to point b over and over still exist

I agree. Food is pretty overrated when it comes to being in shape. People seriously overestimate how much food you actually need and ripped, in shape people are eating a lot less than they think. And protein is what builds and sustains muscle anyway, not calories
Keeping in mind that being in shape =/= being in bodybuilder shape.

Funny enough you post this anon, so I was chatting with my friend yesterday about this actually. Well I was talking about how Toecutter has a naturally larger and strong looking appearance when he's in all of his leather and gear, he's just got this burly real man look about him compared to the goons in Mad Max 2 who are all roided up, sure they look great and strong but there's no way you could sustain that physique given their diets in a post-apocalyptic society. Toecutter is the greatest villain in the series. He's got so much character to him, he looks menacing, and he's actually really articulate and has a vocabulary you wouldn't expect from an evil biker gang.

You wouldn't waste your time and energy working out post apocalypse, not to mention risk injury. You could only afford that if you were prepared with a safe place and a long term stockpile of food, in which case you probably could have prepared gym equipment as well.

How many fat wild animals do you see in Africa? Besides the ones that specifically evolved to be fat and, even then, the hippos, rhinos and elephants that live there are flesh tanks, inconceivably strong and literally fit.
Struggle for survival will get you in shape. No matter what.
If you're fat, you're not struggling to survive. That's it.

I agree with the ones who say that the day to day activity is what gets them in shape. Im guessig by most of the ansers that you dont really understand how much of a workout is to do all the stuff that society provides for us. I know this based on my backpacking and bushcraft experieces, that walking long hours with 15kg is on the backpack, cutting wood, making a refuge, picking up water... is a extenuating phisical activity, because you are not doing it for 30' like your typical cardio workout, you are doing it for most of the day and fatigue snd muscle fatigue acomoulates
