the old strongmen and bodybuilders would say train daily until your body literally cannot move the weight and then rest a day or two and get back to it.
which ones? what are their names? where do they say that?

It depends. If you’re doing a brosplit, UL split, or PPL split, you’re resting most of the muscles most of the time anyway, so you don’t need a rest day.
My 60-year-old dad is currently doing 1 set of bench press per week because he is lazy and that is all I can get him to do, and he has increased his bench from 65 lbs to 155 lbs in about 6 months.
I believe it’s due to the fact most people are lazy or don’t have enough time to work out every day. If you’re marketing a workout routine, it’s going to be more successful if you say “training 3 days a week is ideal and training more will hinder your progress”, because it appeals to most untrained people.
Time under tension. I do 4 days a week 2 hour workouts with a mix of explosive and static. Exclusing burpies, frick burpies. 3 exercises per muscle group, 8-10 reps, 65-80% max depending on joint feel. I get enough protein and try to active rest days. 20% body fat 210 5'10
, 27yo. No complaints.
True, but you have to stretch a frickton if you go hard every day. At least for me anyway, I can have the worst knee pain but if I stretch all the muscles surrounding the knee for a few minutes each I feel fine the next day
Just depends on the person. I sometimes stagnate if I don't take rest days. Whereas if I do, it's almost guaranteed I'll be able to lift a bit more or do more reps than before the next time
don't question go make another coombait thread
>How did gains goblins meme us into believing in rest days?

Just make them yourself, its really easy
You probably don't need days where you skip the gym but you definitely need to give muscles recovery time if you recently lifted heavy and hard

Stupid fat frick what makes you think you can give advice
If I don't rest one day a week I get all these joint and tendon pains adding up in 2-3 weeks. But you don't need 4 rest days a week that's for sure.
