Im only in a good place because my fears of being a failure were a damn good motivation. But for some reason it doesnt work with porn. That shit has a death grip on me. And I just finished a 4 day fast.

    ADHD homosexual here, I was on 72 MG of concerta back in the day (adderall ripoff).
    You just have to find what works for you to keep you focused. For some, it is breaks after some time or a task, for others it is just sitting down and doing it.
    It will be 100% trial and error.

    >Find an active hobby
    You just have to accept that you have more energy than most people but the tradeoff is that focusing the energy is harder. Nothing will change that.

    i was diagnosed both as a child, and an adult. I don't take pills. This is just me, i'd have it no other way. That said, what they say about help people with ADHD stumbling into self medication through stimulants like caffeine, nicotine and exercise is absolutely true. Don't let the J boys take you with their pills. Learn to enjoy the hand you were dealt.

    Honestly, most people with ADHD don't really have actually hyperactivity ADD. They often have other issues, lack of care or follow through. If you had real ADHD, it would be noticeable. When I was a kid , I had like 20 teachers tell my parents I had it before I got diagnosed. If you have it, people will notice. If you're just behind in life and not doing what needs done, you need to find other ways to cope. Get it done.

    If you have ADHD try everything before pills. If it gets to the point where your life is fricking up, and u need to get a jump start, hop on pills, a low dose though. Don't take it for the euphoria or to cure depression. A good dose of stimulants doesn't feel super euphoric or jittery, it should be a layer of focus and control over your thoughts. It's often a much lower dose than your prescribed. If you have real ADHD you will have insomnia, hyperactivity , problems controlling emotions, other mood disorders or anxiety disorder, really have trouble doing task, live in fantasy alot, mood swings , FORGETFULNESS ( that's a big one, like you miss a lot of appointments, lose things all the time, misplace things constantly, lose money etc) pace alot in your thoughts, basically you will just be different than everyone else from a young age. You don't have ADHD if you just feel unmotivated or have depression symptoms plus concentration issues.

    how do I ask my doc for adhd pills without sounding like an addict or a drug seller? I really actually am worried I need it since I can't ever focus or self-study and I really want to pass my lsat.

    ADHD is probably like OCD in that they're a defense mechanism against emotional pain and specifically shame. They both have strong overlaps with narcissism. Which is not to say you're a bad person, but from a young age maybe you had distant parents or faced traumatic situations that necessitated an inability to focus on emotional pain. Likely the only real way to undo the ADHD is inteospect and journal intensively, look into unprocessed trauma from the past and connect the dots between past events and your current emotional life.

I was diagnosed with ADD at the age of 19(there was always signs tho from childhood but I did well academically because I have high IQ) but the more emotional trauma I’ve resolved the less my symptoms show. My mother is a narcissist and ever since cutting contact with her my life is so much better. Another thing is the rings under my eyes, I’ve always had really dark/pronounced rings but they’ve also gone away more and more the more I process trauma and become more mentally aware.

    after trying every method under the sun i'll tell you what works best for me , i'll clear a room and put inside NOTHING other then what i need to study , no phone , no computer (unless needed for studying , in which case i block all non relevant websites using an addon or work offline if possible ) .
    i still find my self spacing out a lot but for far shorter periods and overall get a lot more done .

    Read the book cure by Julia Ross. But a couple of things that work for me are l-tyrosine, sam-e, 30k of vitamin D, and grape fruit extract and that’s just to get me thinking about doing anything. On top of that I’m working on quitting porn, my phone, any kind of stimulants. Our grandparents got so much done because they didn’t have anything else to do if that makes sense.
