            Former USAF here.
            Are you enlisting? The other anons are right, literally just go run. I was running five days a week prior to basic because my body sucks at running. If you want a routine: after you finish running your 1.5, run another to 1 mile at least. You should always run further during practice than your test requires.

                You should have at least one rest day a week. Time yourself during every run, try to maintain a good speed for the first 1.5 miles, then you can slow down a little (but not too much) for the additional mile.
                Also run on a track as much as you can, not on a treadmill.

    Anyway so there's not a lot of good advice here and mid and short distances can be hard to find free programs for. But most beginners programs follow a similar formula. Run 3-5 times a week. Running every day is inefficient for a beginner and if you're really trying to lose weight and improve cardio quickly, you're better off cross training the 2-4 days a week you don't run.
    Your weekly runs should consist of one speed run (either repeats or a tempo run/fartlek), one long run, and 1-3 easy runs.
    This also depends on your running experience, if you're a complete beginner, I recommend just focusing on running a 5k without stopping. Having an aerobic base will make speed gains come quicker.

    is godawful advice. you don't need to obsess over running form, but overstriding is probably the most common cause of beginner injury. If anything, focus on shorter, quicker steps.

    I was able to improve my 2 mile run time by doing 3 mile runs twice a week and hill sprint repeats twice a week distance runs and sprints on separate days of course
