How do I sleep on my back?

Alright, I've always slept alone on my side.
Now I got a gf and she rests her head on my chest when she sleeps.
The thing is, I literally can't sleep like that.
How do I fall asleep on my back?

It takes practice like anything else. If you are so tired that you're about to pass out, you will be able to sleep on your back. As you do that more often you will find you can sleep in any position comfortably.

A friend of mine believed this meme when he was a kid. I tried it a few times and the sleep demon didn't visit me. What gives?

i had to stop sleeping on my stomach because i would get sleep paralysis almost every time i slept. i discovered that sleeping on my back is the only way i can sleep without getting sleep paralysis. i had to completely retrain myself on sleeping because i was so used to sleeping on my stomach.

huh, I thought it's literally impossible to get sleep paralysis as a stomach sleeper

Weak will. Sleep paralysis never affects me and U always back sleep. Back sleep is THE best sleep. It's the natural position. It's not debatable and you're gay.

Just be tired enough you fall asleep dummy
Also you dont always have to be constantly be cuddling your gf when you go to bed. I am naturally really warm so I will cuddle with my gf a while then I am too fricking hot so I just roll away from her

I am 28 I almost always sleep on my back and I have never had sleep paralysis. I also usually fall asleep within 5minutes of laying in bed

OP you should try training this through napping, lie down in a cool dark room and set an alarm for 15-20 minutes and just try to close your eyes and turn your brain off

I have gotten sleep paralysis a couple times and I've never actively disliked it. Sure they weren't enjoyable experiences but they were interesting. Probably because I knew what was happening
I kinda miss it tbh, wish it would happen again

Sleeping on your stomach is anatomically the worst position you can sleep in.
You should be sleeping on your left side, and switch to your right side when it gets sore.
You shouldn't sleep on your stomach or back. Those aren't natural positions.

Also will using a mattress on the bare floor help ? I feel like when you’re too comfy you’re loosing

yes, sleeping without a pillow is better for your head posture

and if you sleep on your side, your arms can easily support your head

Sleeping on your back is trash unless you have lumbar support. Try spooning instead.

put one ankle under the other knee. you'll have one knee to the side preventing you from rolling over, and having your other knee locking your ankle in prevents it from accidentally pulling it out while sleeping

I... What? Can you draw it?

lying on back ofc, and the ankle is under the knee. not the most comfortable but keeps you from rolling over

It's a normal sleep position. I'm not sure if the leg stays like that all night.
I know it's normal because I saw an episode of Adventure Time were Finn was resting like that with his arms above his head and it made me think "hey, I do that"
It's like the cowboy napping position.

my partner likes sleeping like this too. sometimes I lay on my back until they fall asleep and then eventually we reposition, but my partner also really likes to be big spoon. I lay somewhere between being on my side and on my stomach, and my partner spoons me, pressing their face into my back.

before this I was in another relationship for 12 years. It's ok to snuggle for a while and then separate to sleep

As we are on the topic of sleep. I read consistency is key, meaning you want to go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. What about days when I am extremely tired and want to sleep earlier? For now, I have just forced myself to stay awake anyway and it's mostly been fine, but can I just sleep earlier?

I sleep on my back but I need a soft pillow. If it's too firm I get sleep apnea.
