This, best to not use any substances at all. An alternative route is switching to CBD rollies and vaping. Or at least using them to wean yourself off, thankfully you're not a pack a day smoker.

as a previous smoker, there is no trick to it. Stop buying cigarettes and just stop.

It's always far easier than you imagine it to be. I was surprised how easy it was the first time.

Just stop. I smoked like a pack a day and quit cold turkey. If anything, the only trick is to reduce stress in your life and (at least for a bit) avoid triggers like drinking with your friends who smoke too.

will is a big part, another is nicotine gum or patches or lozanges those can help especially patches, three is to have someone around keep an eye on you

I know, but I'm simply afraid that one day I will become an heavy smoker, so I want to stop before it's too late

Consumed comical levels of nicotine in the form of vape and snus for about 6 years. I quit with virtually no withdrawals by slowly, strictly cutting down over the course of about 2 months. It does require a degree of discipline, but it's absolutely not as hard to quit as everyone made me think it was. I recommend low/limited nicotine options (low nic vape juice, using 1 or 2 snus pouches a day for 2+ hours each) and ween down from there.

I did similar: bought a vape and two big bottles of juice. One was full nicotine and was nicotine free. Once I vaped half the nicotine bottle, I diluted it with the 0% bottle. I repeated this for a few weeks and never actually knew when my nicotine levels were at negligible levels. Put it down one day and haven’t smoked/vaped since

I did this. It requires the same dedication as cutting. Just log your usage religiously and cut it down ~20% weekly.

I smoked twice as much as that, which is still absolutely nothing, and I literally just quit because buying another pack of cigarettes was more of a hassle than driving past the gas station on the way home from work
    Get a fucking grip dude

I used to smoke 4-5 for a long time.
I quilted many times for a week then started again. Quitting partially, or "only smoking on occasions" doesnt work if you are already hooked.

You just have to stop, there really arent any tricks to it, through the shit out you have, throw out your lighters, wash your clothes and dont go to any bars and parties for a month, basically.
I also combined my quitting, by doing a lot of long distance running, its inspiring to feel your lungs return to "normal", and be able to run a lot more than before.

I'm 9 months smoke free. It took me two years to get to this point.
It's going to be a hard battle but it is possible.
The urge never goes away. It's just not big of an urge after a while.

Get a two weeks off from everything and quit cold turkey. Most brutal withdrawal strike day 3-4. Don't try to do anything brain challenging cause your nerves can't take it. It will get easier after first week and if you can survive two weeks you are off the hook. Then the hard part begins. Resisting "just one smoke" for rest of your life.

Don't, that's not that many cigs, they raise test. Only negative is they smell like shit, just start vaping if you want to quit.

Something that worked for me is getting on a different but softer drug. Started smoking cigarettes when I quit weed in order to cope, then got off cigs by drinking 3-4 coffees a day instead.

~40cigs a day for me, smoking for about 11yrs now
The longest i could make it without were a week when i was isolating myself in my apartment when i had vacation days left. The first workday i relapsed - 4 smokers near me, stress at work - wish on one hand i didnt start with the nicotine garden gnome, on the other it helped me with anxiety, weight loss and social skills when i was 15

Ive got a quick dry cough every few minutes and my lungs burn when i laugh wholeheartedly.

The worst coughing was when i tried quitting after the 2nd day with mucus and shit. Would cough my lungs out for minutes.

And I was thinking I was bad with a pack a day (around 20 cigs, self rolled).

If you're this addicted then it's better to start using strong snus, something like 16-24mg pouches if not more. It's way more healthy than 40 cigs a day

Meditation alleviates stress and increases focus making quitting smoking easy. Same goes for drinking and fapping. Meditating improved my life 10 times and gave me confidence to do things I deemed impossible. You may not be into it, or feel ready yet. I wish you luck

smoke one in under a minute or two if you're that fast until you throw up.
you will feel too sick from it and the smell to pick them up for at least a while.
    from then on it's willpower.

Don't think about it in positive terms, like "stopping doing something". Not smoking it's a negative action, a lack of action. What do you need to do is simple. Don't buy more cigarettes and know for sure that you're going to have a bad time for 10 to 15 days. Then it's all psychological.

I used to eat a lot of oranges instead when I stopped smoking years ago lol. Fill that void with something.

    >high school
    >smoke cigs on breaks with buddies for 4 years
    >after finishing school never smoke again
    >not a single problem with stopping

    but then
    >work at building site
    >smoke pack of cigs every day for 6 months
    >get better job
    >never smoke again
    >not a single problem with stopping

i don't fucking understand how can you get addicted to this shit, it doesn't give you any effects so how can it addict people? i've been smoking only because other people around me were doing it so it was kind of social thing, but i was never addicted despite smoking so much and for so long, i could just stop at any moment i wanted and not touch cigs until when i was around other smokers
how fucking weak your will and brain must be to get addicted from cigs? im asking unironically

Smoking is an absolute pig to quit cos you associate it with everything
    >Morning coffee
    Smoke
    >After a meal
    Smoke
    >On break
    Smoke
    >Having a drink
    Smoke
    >Meeting friends
    Smoke
    >Bored
    Smoke
    >See somebody smoking
    Smoke
    >Read this post
    Smoke
The worst is when you go about a week without smoking and your lungs get inflamed, and you've either got to endure it for a week or smoke which treats it on the spot, but unless you've got extraordinary willpower you're back to square one.
Best way I've found is just discipline and scheduling. I've gone down from 30 to 10 a day in a month by setting alarms and gradually increasing the distance between the alarms.

    >8 - 10 a week
    This has to be bait.

Just literally stop smoking you gay. If you van make it 4 days nicotine free you will be fine.
    Day 2 sucks ass.

Pic related, I smoked 14x times as much as you (20 a day) and I decided I didnt like smelling like shit and looking like a retard with a little paper tube in his hand standing by a fucking dumpster smoking.

Pack a day here, I've been thinking a lot more about quitting lately
I can quit for a day, then that next morning I wake up on autopilot and drive to the store for them
Tried vaping and it sucks.. might get a different tank or try different liquid or something

    Throw away/don't buy any cigs
Buy some gum (Mastic for chad jawline)
    Chew gum whenever urge arises
    Drink water whenever urge arises
Your first milestone is 3 days
After that 3rd day, urge significantly decreases
    Don't buy any cigs
