I don't, I always have to get up and take a piss a couple times a night.

To get 8 hours total it feels like I have to go to bed 10-10.5 hours before getting up. It's fricked.

    Unless you’re early 20s or a teen, it’s more like 7 hours.
Best way is to reduce anxiety. Best way to do that is to get done what you need to get done when you’re supposed to do it. I used to procrastinate a lot and lay in bed at night worried about the impending deadline. It’s a better life to just get stuff done.

If you can provide concrete proof that your neighbors are interrupting your sleep, it ought to be legal to kill them.

I don't, brain is c**t. Lately, it's been waking me up between 2.30 and 3.30am. I try to get back to sleep for an hour, then go downstairs, eat a Greek yogurt, go back to bed and sleep within 5 minutes.

The c**t brain, it likes Greek yogurt.

Lately I've been waking up after a couple of hours sleep and have some difficulty getting back to sleep immediately. I wander into thoughts and worries etc. Any tips? No, I do not use screens ofc. I primarily wake up to take a piss. Problem is if I don't drink water at night I'm thirsty af. My blood work is clean, I'm not fat either

Leave food and drink by your bed, eat when you can't get back to sleep.

    Sleepmaxxing Godking of Bedtime here.

    Mandatory:
No food three hours before bed.
No screens two hours before bed.
No liquids one hour before bed.

    Highly recommended:
No alcohol. It might make you fall asleep faster but you will have lower quality sleep, increased chance of nightmares, and generally feel worse the next day.

    More extreme practices:
I keep my phone on silent in another room.
    No tech in my bedroom.
    No alarm.

I also front load my calories. My last meal of the day is only a protein shake. The idea is that your body needs to use energy/effort to break down food. Eating a large meal even five hours before bed seems to disrupt my sleep.

For the last 6 months, I've had consistent 90%+ sleep scores on my Whoop. That only changes if I wake up to have sex with my girlfriend or drink alcohol that day.

Read, prayer, journal, guitar, skate. Whatever I'm in the mood for that day.

Seems like half of those would require real concentration which would keep your brain forcefully awake for longer.

I go to bed around 9:30, I can’t seem to stop myself from waking up around 5 or 6 am so this is my solution.

    >make the room pitch black
    >humidifier in the winter
    >no caffeine after 4pm
    >keep a water bottle by the bed so I don’t have to stumble all the way down to the kitchen if I wake up thirsty in the middle of the night

If you go to bed that early 5 or 6am is already a decent amount of sleep. Not quite ideal, but maybe it's not the right bed time.

The issue is, if I go to bed later I still find myself waking up at 5/6. I’ll be bright eyed and bushy tailed for the morning but it makes for rough afternoons and evenings.

And is there anything you can identify that wakes you up at that time?

  16. 3 weeks ago

I try not to drink anything at least an hour or two (preferably 3) before bed so I don't have to piss in the middle of the night. Don't eat anything either as it'll just make me more hungry and want more.
No gaming or YouTube about 30 minutes before bed, I'll just read my comics/a novel to wind down. I keep my phone in another room charging so I'm not inclined to get on it, and use an actual alarm clock radio from like the 80s to wake me up.
I take a warm shower before bed and it really helps a lot actually, it drops your body temperature and you don't feel sticky and disgusting when trying to fall asleep from the day's work.
I've also noticed that cuddling my second pillow has been doing wonders for helping me fall asleep recently too. Don't know why that is

A book sounds pretty good right now not gonna lie. But I can't reread the prince 20 times over, book of 5 rings is kinda cool but if you actually read it, it sounds like bullshit. There is nothing in the realm of 50 pages dedicated to offensive and defensive techniques for a katana and wakazashi, let alone different grips etc. It's all about how to think about using 1 sword when he opened up "the school of 2 swords." I'd assume he'd get laid out by some random european drunk with a zweihander where the illustrations are them in full armor minus a helmet. That or he's being thick about everything because he's that good, again nothing on the naginata or longbow being nobunaga era Japan.
