I mean, what else are you going to do? Just sit there and wait to die? Your arguments are stupid and immature.

What does it mean when this anon replies with "cope" to the thing he quoted? I don't understand what is being communicated here. I don't know what cope means and what it means when its used here. Can anyone explain?

He's saying that a reasonable and intelligent viewpoint to OP's non-problem is just a way of coping with the "problem"--basically doubling down on the immature view that "I'm gonna die anyway so why do anything" is a real obstacle that needs to be addressed or tackled.

Fair enough, older than me, then. Perhaps I'll also reconsider when I'm older and closer to the end. Perhaps that's just the midlife crisis

In that case, I'd say it's pretty normal to be asking this kind of existential questions right now. You'll stop caring in a couple of years

Why do you do anything if you're going to die someday? What an incredibly vain and idiotic mindset.

Something is not precious because it lasts forever.
Memento mori is not nihilistic, it is inspirational to take risks and achieve something that can resonate through the ages. Lifting may not make you go down in history as a Herakles, but in the span of time gains are exponential for the right people.
    >have a son
    >be strong for the son
    >the son follows your example
    >the son helps his friends become strong
    >the son goes to produce more strong children
    >those strong children repeat the processes of their father
Man does not prosper living selfishly, but for something greater than himself.

      >Something is not precious because it lasts forever.
What makes something precious? is it rarity? That not everyone can have it? That its finite and can be used up? That its difficult to obtain? That other people want it? That you want it? Why do you want it?

If something lasted forever, and you did too, then it wouldn't be very important? You have infinity on your side anyways, that is quite the long time. You'd get more then enough time together with that thing you deemed precious. In fact you get all the time you want with it because you got infinite time. In fact you got time for EVERYTHING, because you have forever. How is anything precious if you have infinite of it? You don't even have to make a choice about what you want because you can literally choose everything. You'd have enough time to spend as much time as you'd want everything you want.

Now, what if only had a limited time, and that precious thing, you can't have as much as you want of it. And if you want that thing there is probably a lot of other things you want that you can't have. There are probably things you want that you can't even have, you'll try but it won't work out. You don't have the option to chose a 100% either. Because a a lot of it has to do with chance, luck and circumstances.

Life is limited, and so are the good things in it. Not everyone gets to have good things. Not everyone gets to have good lives. At the end of days, there are many that wish they could live their life a thousand times over, and there are people that wish it would have been over earlier and to never live again. Who is right?

You say life is pointless because its short and everyone dies. You got it completely backwards. Life is meaningful because its short and everyone dies.

Even kings and presidents die, but what matters is the legacy you leave behind. Enjoy today for tomorrow is a mystery.
