i plan to not get old
when i have reached the ripe age of 50 an email currently sitting on a server in a remote location somewhere off the coast of angola will be sent to an old acquaintance of mine
from there he will gather the equipment necessary for the job and kill me in my sleep
my body will be thrown in a nearby lake and my house will be burned down ridding myself from this world
the current time until this all transpires is approximately 27 years from now

NTA, but my grandma died a few months ago at 99. We were taking care of her the past few years and it was living motivation to not make it to that age. Once you become immobile and require assistance to do eat, there is no point in living anymore. She had no quality of life the last few years, but kept hanging on.

Similar thing happened to my grandma. Think she made it to 94 or so but the last.... 5 or more years were bad. Luckily she passed in 2019. Can't imagine the horror of being in a nursing home while covid is going on.
          alzheimers, dialysis, nursing home, etc.
Last time I remember her being "really there" was around 8 or 9 years ago when she would go on walks at my parents house.

It's sad because I can remember 20 years ago she was taking me to school, cooking, tending, her garden, hanging out with friends.

If I learned anything having a purpose, social life, and mobility are the most important things when you age.

I've definitely been spooked into staying active when I let myself go a little bit over the past year. My grandma has alzheimer's and it's terrifying to watch how mentally and physically feeble she's become, and it's only getting worse from here. There is absolutely zero dignity or enjoyment left in her life. She eats, sleeps, and shits herself. She is actively annoying to the family members that have to take care of her because she's so helpless, and pretty soon the only place that will be able to give her full-time care will be some kind of facility. My aunt claims she's never going to let that happen but she has a job and can't be home 24/7, so my grandma is frequently neglected, sitting hours at a time in her own waste, and she's recently started roaming so she'll probably need to be seriously hurt while left alone one day for my aunt to change her mind. But frankly, I hope when that day comes she just dies instead. All this effort to preserve her existence is wasted, idiotic.

Anyway, I'm doing everything I can to lower my risk factors. I'm playing sports, learning new things, spending time with friends, and if the day ever comes where I'm diagnosed I'm just going to kill myself. Not worth it.

I've currently got a 70-something y/o grandma in memory care for advanced alzheimer's and she's a shell that would've been mortified if she knew she'd end up this way. But she was generally sedentary and didn't engage much, just watched news and shopped. Her brothers have done better and they've been pretty active and social even into their old age.
An aunt of mine that's in her 90's is still pretty sharp, too, though she's in a home. She has hobbies, pays attention to her health, and still functions pretty well by herself. So I think lifestyle has a lot to do with it.
Regardless, I'm seeing myself out the at the first instance of incontinence.

          This.

          >I'm playing sports
I heard tennis is really good for hand eye coordination and reaction, which help with brain health. I don't play myself, but that is worth a shot.

Tennis is what my uncles do and they've avoided (much) mental and physical decline, especially compared to my grandma.
