How do you stop eating?

6'1, 210lbs, sedentary outside of the gym.(stay at home dad). I'm finding it extremely hard to cut on 1800 calories especially in the afternoon and evening time i just want to grab a bowl of cereal or a couple more slices of toast and i can't fit it into the calories. Eating only 50g of oats is also brutal, i usually eat 150g in one sitting. Wife is also filling cabinets and fridge with tasty food and i can't eat it.

I've tried drinking tons of water in between meals, it doesn't fucking work. How do you stop the urge to snack and binge?

      Yes i do have lack of self-control. How do fix that? Even my oldest kid brings me the tray of jell doughnuts and he's like "I'm going to eat them all don't you want one? how come you're not eating these doughnuts" then i take one just because he has it in my face

          They will learn by what you do not what you say. It’s simply fundamental when you were a kid your parent and teachers gave you great advice but you never listened your kids won’t either. With respect that’s all I know because I’m not a parent but I can reflect and say my seniors were right about most things and I never internalized it or listened

    Fitness is a lifestyle you get up cook a meal and one for work then from work go to the gym eat when you get back now it’s 6-7 pm stay active reading or socializing or learning before you go to bed

    Mealprepping with shirataki noodles is the ultimate cheat code to brutal cuts. I'm currently cutting at 1500 calories per day (excessive, I know, but I'm impatient and retain muscle well), and I'm eating 4 meals containing about half a kg of food each (very satiating) with 10g carbs, 42g protein and 10g of fat. Those meals add up to 1200 calories, meaning I have an additional 300 calories for snacks which I usually reserve for fresh fruits pre-workout with a bit of peanutbutter. this leaves me at about 75g of carbs, 170g protein and 55g of fat. Perfect macros, and I could literally do this for months were it not for diet fatigue.

    Do 1000 cals. You'll lose 2lb a week and that should be enough to get you motivated or at least thats what worked for me.
    I weighted 210lb and in 3 months i lost 30lb

    Have some frozen veggies in your freezer. They take less than 10 min to steam. You can snack, but not on bread and rice. A half cup of oats for breakfast is fine. Mix some other healthy things in there when you eat it and it becomes filling enough.

    Maximize your protein intake to alleviate hunger by getting some protein bars and powder to add to your food.

    Since you're a stay-at-home dad make sure to have more stuff to do around the house (fix shit, exercise at home, etc.). Keeps you more active and makes you productive.

        I agree that eating shit like protein bars won't do shit to stave off hunger, but eating 2 fat beef patties or a giant ribeye alone will be a LOT more satiating than something carb heavy with the same caloric value.

        herein lies the secret, what you eat matters. calories in calories out is true for the science of weight loss but you will feel like utter shit and struggle if you're still eating tons of shit food regularly like those donuts you fail to pass up, EVEN IF it fits your daily caloric needs. eat more whole foods, and cut out any heavily processed carbs. you are only allowed simple carbs in the form of fresh fruit for dessert and that's it. eat more meat. problem solved

    Eating at random times is a habit. Break it just like any other addiction. Your body will adapt in a matter of weeks. Drink more water. If you are super weak willed, try chewing gum but remember to count it as calories - even a 10 piece stick of sugarfree gum has 50kcal.

    Quasi-keto (you dont need to actually enter a ketogenic state). Start the day with 3 scrambled eggs and maybe some nuts and black coffee -- no carbs. Keep doing higher protein and fat meals throughout the day. Carbs aren't necessarily "bad" for you, but they tend to create cravings.
