Walk on your forefoot, there is a reason why Women who wear high heeled shoes a lot have big calves.

I just tiptoe everywhere since I'm an adhd autist. Calves aren't enormous, but respectable.

every single person who says they cant grow their calves despite training them, trains them at most 3-6 sets per week. Where as they do 15-20 sets for their back/chest.

thats literally it. people do maybe one exercise for calves and your typical 3 sets. AT MOST some absolute freak does it twice a week. imagine if you trained the same volume for any other body part. it wouldnt be a mystery why your chest fricking sucks when you do only one exercise once a week for it.

put the same emphasis on your calves as you would for your other body parts and frick maybe even give it a priority. maybe train your calves the first thing in the gym when you are fresh and full of energy. dont do it last in a hurry with shit effort "ahh i better get home already". yeah calves are genetic. and? your acting like biceps arent just as genetic also. every single fricking body part is genetic.

Yup and they don't understand that their calves can take an enormous amount of volume so if you're one of these that does 3 sets of 10 for everything then you need to be doubling the amount of work you're doing with your calves. Start doing sprints too.

you are either born with big calves or not. no one has ever went from small to big calves and no one with big calves trains them. you don't have big calves and no amount of training has even added 1 inch on them. you are delusional and you are talking out of your ass.

This. My cousin is a pro bodybuilder and my calves are way bigger than his. I've never trained them directly.

    Like forearms, a lot.

People with the best forearms are not lifters, but people working in construction and shit. They use their hands all day to carry heavy shit.

People with the best calves are fat people, because they’re rucking all day with their additional weight.

Do your cardio by using your gym stairs machine and add 40kgs in a backpack, that way you’ll do calf hypertrophy WHILE doing cardio

incline walking and cycling is how you get big calves.

This. I cringe at DYELs doing calf raises. Also, rope skipping (double unders), sprinting, jumping, OLY lifts,...

Routine you would suggest? I assume some kind of HIIT since sprinters all look jacked

I just cycle or incline walk for maybe 30 minutes most days at a hard pace. Sometimes I do it for hours but only a few times a month. The key is to activate your calves, like push with them more while cycling etc

    High reps high weight
    >A hundred reps of body weight+100lbs is NOT highweight high reps
If you want to get thicker calves you need to be using increase the weight EVERY time you take a step.
And you need to be mindful that you still use your calves, stepping on the balls of your feet. Because most people start to do the fatass waddle.

    focus on the stretch
take them to failure regardless of the volume you have to do

If I stretch until it hurts, just doing single calf raises to failure is enough. Always focus on the stretch, that's most important if you dont want to train calves for 2 hours at a time

  19. 2 weeks ago

With excessive volume. Try to reach failure.
The key to the calf is there are 2 muscles involved, the largest being the gastric muscle. It only activates when your knees are in extension so do weighted calf raisers while standing with a focus on keeping your knees locked.
