Plain, delicious as is. Particularly if you can find large curd cottage cheese. Small curd is alright, just doesn't taste quite as good.

Traditionally, that is how cottage cheese would be eaten, as it would be primarily consumed by farmers (short shelf life compared to other cheese in a time before refridgeration). Aristocratic consumers might mix in wine and/or honey and consume like that, but the farmer would usually use it as an ingredient in savoury porridge.

this is how I have it too. During the summer months I sometimes get strawberries on sale and cc + walden strawberry + sliced strawberries is just an entire meal for me. So good and glorious calorie-wise.

Who still eats cottage cheese? Honestly curious.
I used to have it a lot, on some toast with pepper on top. Maybe some balsamic/tomato/onion-like bruschetta. Plain with maybe cinnamon on top. Or added to main meals like a few scoops on top of chilli.

But in the past few years it’s gone from being an economical into a luxury. I’ve switched to exclusively the high protein Greek yoghurt to fill the same (usually superior) nutritional needs, at better than half the price per amount protein. Only downside it’s not as easily savoury but it’s fine on its own.

They had some on sale at the grocery store for $0.99 instead of $6.19 so it was economical

Ricotta and chopped tomatoes on toast is just the best. Ricotta price is through the roof too, naturally.
