      ROFL
(As is customary with internet lingo, i actually did not roll on the floor and laugh out loud. However i did grin widely and chuckled vigorously - you could even venture to say, that i “laughed out loud”. However, as it is customary to quip “lol” when something’s funny that didn’t actually elicit an audible laugh, then considering the phrase “lol” is essentially an exaggeration by upgrading the humorous response, I’ve upgraded my own response (a genuine “lol”) to a “ROFL”)

Are you happier in life in general? I'm very depressed.

        Anonymous

no not at all, i started lifting primarily because i thought it would help with depression but it didn't really, i'm considering now getting into cardio to see if that works, cardiogays always seem quite pleased with themselves

I guess lifting is more to look better, and cardio is to feel better? I think you're right that cardio does more for happiness, but theres only so much you can do without satisfying the core components of happiness.

As someone who’s been lifting constantly for 3 years and only recently started doing cardio (30 minute runs at a slow pace), I can say cardio makes me forget about life and once you start really breaking a sweat and have to start pushing yourself it’s like you become high.

No. I feel happiness only during lifting. After that only darkness...

        >be fat (as you were your entire life)
        >no gf, don't care
        >no goals, don't care
        >don't give a frick about anything
        >sleep all day and lurk all night
        >enjoy eating food and playing video games
        >one night stumble across bodybuilding motivashun video
        >it worked
        >get on the ground and start doing pushups right away
        >fast forward to today, 10 years later
        >on steroids for past 6 years
        >eating clean, zero junk since the day you started
        >always unhappy with how you look
        >always restricting calories because you are too fat
        >looking better than 99% of people
        >still no gf but now it bothers you a lot because people who look like shit have gfs
        >constantly anxious and pissed off
        >can't sleep at the night due to anxiety
        >can't do anything during the day due to anxiety and lack of sleep
        >can't enjoy anything
        >always thinking about meal timing, lifting and cardio
Lifting weights ruined my life. It gave me depression, anhedonia, abulia, apathy and avolition. It literally fricked me up mentally. I absolutely fricking hate lifting because just sheer sight of weights reminds me of all that shit.

I gained 30 lbs during COVID and I was noticeably obese. I’d guess my bf% was 25%.

When gyms fully opened back up I joined this gym and started doing intense cardio. I’d say my bf% is around 18%. Also, muscle memory really has helped me gain a lot of my muscle back.

    Here’s my take.

When you’re fat you are invisible. People just don’t notice you, they won’t look up from the register when getting you change, people don’t notice you so they help you less and when you are at a bar you get no attention other than from the waitstaff/bartender who are just going through the motions.

I actually liked this because it’s sometimes just nice not to have any attention on you. As long as you’re still confident and know how much attention you get doesn’t define your self worth. I had little issue with it. I like being by myself more after COVID and so it was just nice to just relax when I was out and about.

Being fit and getting my body is a lot more pressure because I feel there is some kind of image I want to maintain, because I can tell more people are watching me. I’m no longer the observer and now I’m the observed. I go into a bar and I see women making eye contact, playing with their hair and in all honesty I just wanted to chill but now I feel like I should do something or I’m missing out on a chance to meet someone.

What ends up happening is get all worked up about it and self conscious, all the while trying to look like I don’t even notice or give a shit. Prior I knew I didn’t have a chance at all so I didn’t give a frick. Now I give too much a frick.

Also, no one cares about this as a problem. Boo hoo you’re getting attention. True, but the anxiety I’m getting as well with it really sucks. I now have started bring a notepad to write on or a book to read to help get my mind off of it. And talking about it gets no sympathy, because again boo-hoo, right.

    Anxiety is a b***h.

I’m not ripped but I will be.
    >early 2021
    >5’7”, almost 200lbs
    >medically “obese”
    >get into calorie counting, start frequenting /fat/
    >get into running
    >get into fasting
    >late 2021
    >have mastered CICO
    >run over 240 miles a month
    >it’s 1/2 - 3/4 mountain running too, not flat road running
    >peaked at 90 miles in 6 days
    >fasted 5 days straight
    >lowest weight ever achieved was 132lbs
    >absolute DYEL
    >stop fasting, can’t stop calorie counting, multiple eating disorders
So anyways, at this point in time, my success rate in online dating increased significantly. I was able to see various women and they all complimented my body a lot, and they couldn’t keep their hands off me. I actually was less attracted to them than they were to me, and I didn’t really want to have sex with them as much as they wanted to have sex with me. Eh. Lame
    >early 2022
    >move two timezones
    >stop running so much
    >start lifting
    >start carnivore diet
    >body was dying for resistance training
    >immediately start seeing progress
    >weight doesn’t increase
    >eating disorders are cured
    >start looking kinda “big up there” and “small down there”
    >get more attention from girls in public / IRL
    >confidence rising
I’m not ripped or even buff, yet, but im reasonable skinny (size 29-31 waist/pants usually) (probably between 16% and 20% body fat, lowest ever was 14.5%) and my strength is increasing every time I go to the gym. My arms, shoulders, lats/back and pecs/chest, plus my thighs/glutes are all growing in size too - some of my shirts are getting tighter in the right places.
So to summarize it’s fixing all my personality disorders and making me more confident in IRL situations like going to clubs and bars n shit and just striking up cheeky-ass conversations with people out of the blue
    I’m also happier now

        I’m 33 and visibly balding
I don’t have a symmetrical facial structure and i recently underwent LASIK so that I wouldn’t have to wear glasses ever again (when I was wearing contacts I had multiple girlfriends tell me I looked better with contacts than with glasses)
Even if you’re older than me though it’s never too late to improve yourself

Can women really tell your body fat % on online dating? Good on your journey anon.

        Pb_runner

Yeah just like how us men can instantly judge if a woman is hot or not, women can tell a lot about a guy’s body fat percentage just from glancing at their face. It might sound impossible but i can tell you after witnessing my own weight loss and looking at frickloads of pictures of skinny people, anorexic people, models, actors, fat people, etc… you can tell a lot about someone’s body fat just from looking at their cheeks/face/throat/neck. So yea women can look at your clothed pic on a dating app and tell if you’re buff or not even if you’re wearing a long sleeved shirt.
        But.
My dating app pic is of me shirtless flexing my six pack abs. Which only show up when i flex, mind you. While holding two little cakes i baked. Tee hee im so gay

Maybe I'll start dating again after this cut is over. Pretty interesting. Might as well slip a topless picture in too. Eh women like this whole sweet sensitive bakes cakes kinda dude anyway. As much as they like butthole bad men.

Hmm I mean a significant portion of my last few girlfriends were definitely bi or lesbian at one point and i was probably the “cute” one in the relationship, definitely the better looking and skinnier one that’s for sure, it’s pretty lame from a manliness perspective, i guess… but I don’t give a shit if my gf is taller than me or stronger than me (my last gf did manual labor and was at least 4 inches taller than me, Kek). Actually it’s pretty hot if your girl is into wrestling or feats of strength but im just moronic cuz i dated a crazy gymnast in college.
Who knows what women like, i think if you just smile and project positivity and have some nice skills/quirks, then it doesn’t really matter, there’ll be people interested in you. Also if i was you i wouldn’t wait until the cut is over. Just start making a habit of taking pictures of yourself when you go out etc, and every month or so cycle your photos out with new better ones. As time progresses your profile will naturally go up in value/score/whatever, and you won’t be entering the swiping/dating game from cold-turkey or whatever.
Although i can’t stand online dating anymore. My endgame is approaching women IRL. Which is one of the reasons why i am trying to turn into a human dorito (the coveted V-taper shape)

              Anonymous

Yeah plenty of girls who like me are bi and I find taller bigger stronger (not fat tho) girls just as if not more attractive because they're rare. Eh who cares about masculinity just do what you like. I think you're probably right about just jumping into the dating game for experience and to level up the profile over time with information from what works and what doesn't. I just don't like to because the algorithms tend to favor people who do well to begin with. I have decent enough social skills because I work in a service line and interact with customers and potential ones all the time, but honestly i hate cold approaching girls IRL.

Didn't get ripped, lost weight though. Went through a few cycles of different amounts of muscle and bodyfat after that. Plenty of compliments from guy, more respect probably. Better reception from just talking to strangers for work/socialising. It does pay to not be fat. I only really started dating after my weight loss so I don't know how it affected that, I could still pull girls in a dad bod phase so I don't know if it really affects. We'll see in the next few months after this bulk and cut.

When I started, it completely changed my life by giving me something (more) productive to do, teaching me to take care of myself, and teaching me how to work towards a goal. Now, it does basically nothing for me, but I continue because I like the way I look.
