How is it that the ancients, who were most likely NOT consuming 250 grams of protein a day, and no access to advanced gym equipment, were able to achieve these physiques?
This. The bar for nutrition and fitness søyence is so low and basically amounts of clickbait and how much certain companies are willing to pay nutritional journalists and even researchers. Protein supplements are a multibillionaire dollar market. They are banking on the fact that people believe they need their sucralose powder in order to get in shape. Protein is definitely important but you can get all the protein you need from a good sized meal 3-4 times a day.
But if they all guzzle each other's cum the amount of protein in the system remains constant. Where does the protein consumed to build muscle actually come from?
marble sculptures were the instagram of the ancient and medieval period. They were idealised versions of what someone looked like. I doubt they are one on one depictions of these peoples bodies. The ancient who werent elite soldiers or warriors on that barley bulk diet probably looked more like someone who bouldered at best.
I heard some historian say they were sculpted by women looking down at their own bodies.
I choose to believe it because the idea that even neolithic women were constantly asking "am I fat" is funny to me.
Some presumably must have looked like that for sculptors at the time to have enough of a frame of reference to make their sculptures. Some of those ancient sculptures are pretty accurate to what a really awoke guy would look like, they resemble modern day steroid users. My guess is that a few elite athletes or soldiers in the ancient world were genuinely swole, possibly the fact that the ancients were manlets helped as well
Nobody could, with our understanding of human anatomy, possibly extrapolate that to a freakish extreme far beyond bodybuilders without having seen one?
Does someone need to have a 3 foot penis for someone to draw a 9 foot penis?
I think you vastly underestimate the innate creativity of the human brain.
Yeah ancient Greek sculptors were just opening up their anatomy text books to see muscle insertions and just perfectly guessing at what large muscles would look like in situations. While someone today can sculpt from reference ancients had no reference
The truth is that they used multiple models, different models for each body part. They'd model the lats after someone who rowed the ship, the calves of a sprinter, shoulders of a discus thrower, etc. You'd have a patchwork of guys who had the most aesthetic genetics in one part of the body and piece them together to make a perfectly aesthetic man. Through art they could concieve of someone with low body fat, tons of muscle and great insertions but that doesn't mean everybody looked like that. This is also how they invented homosexuality
I am sorry but you are moronic. What do you think, that people in Ancient Greece were monstrosities, each one unique due to a different muscle portruding and almost popping out of their skin?

The Greeks were not only ripped, they was FRICKING ripped. Pretty much every Greek philosopher, poet, tragedian, and so on would have been, because they were all adult male citizens, and either had to fight in the army or (later) row in the fleet. Or both.
People underestimate the level of physical exertion these things required. These guys worked out EVERY day. They lived to work out. Their entire leisure time was composed of working out and getting gay over how hot their bods were in the balmy Mediterranean sun. The first ten fricking pages in Plato's FIRST dialogue have Socrates lusting over a teenager's sweaty, manly pecs through his toga. Socrates likens himself to a lion that is about to gobble up its prey. That is how the Western philosophical tradition starts: homoerotic lust for ripped abs. When Alcibiades, the manliest man in history, bursts into the famous drinking party, at which the guests are discussing the urbane topic of Love, it is to ask Socrates why he never fricked him in the ass when they cuddled. You know how the dialogue ends? Socrates goes to the gym and works out.
Modern recreations and reconstructions have not even succeeded in duplicating the physical feats reported of the Athenian soldiery. Often, modern historians doubt that these feats are even being accurately reported, for instance the straight dash of the Athenian army across the entire field at Marathon. This is because modern athletes and bodybuilders can't even do these things, even with relatively light gear compared to what the Athenians actually carried. It took a team of Olympic master rowers to even APPROXIMATE the sailing techniques of the Athenian fleet, outside of combat conditions, on a placid sea. The entire Athenian fleet was regularly capable of these maneuvers, season after season, year after year, campaign after campaign. The sole engine of these maneuvers was muscle. Raw, sweaty, heaving Athenian muscle.
>It took a team of Olympic master rowers to even APPROXIMATE the sailing techniques of the Athenian fleet
How much of this was verified and how much of this was propaganda? Was this one of those cases the same as British longbow archers that got "malformed" because they practiced bow shooting from the moment they could basically walk?
And after the battle of Marathon when the remaining Persians had fled to their ships. The entire Athenian army practically ran marched back to Athens to head those ships off. That's the actual story of the marathon. Look it up friends in actual history books and Herodotus. The story of the guy running and dying is not the actual origin

Some of them probably were consuming that much protein.
https://www.medievalists.net/2020/11/medieval-europeans-meat-consumption/ >At almost 280 pounds of meat per person per year (including children and infants), the average daily consumption was 12 ounces per capita. (for Barcelona inhabitants in 1462.) controlling for children and wealth distribution there were probably plenty of people eating far more than that. >In one early-15th-century English aristocratic household for which detailed records are available (that of the Earl of Warwick), members of the household received a staggering 3.8 pounds (1.7 kg) of assorted meats in a typical meat meal in the autumn and 2.4 pounds (1.1 kg) in the winter
Granted, not everybody ate like this, but then again not everybody looked like that.

Each person received 1.7 kg or 1.7 kg were divided among them?
>How is it that the ancients, who were most likely NOT consuming 250 grams of protein a day, and no access to advanced gym equipment, were able to achieve these physiques?

Each workout focuses on the compound and 3-5 accessories done in higher volumes but still directed at strenght and progressive overload.
I also stick to the freestyle wrestling still, but not competitively

Yeah it’s just photoshop bro lol.
The environment which includes food/water/air has become poison to our species. The modern lifestyle with lights/stress makes us weak.
If you think the abo’s in that pic look even slightly ottermode with no focused resistance training then imagine what they would look like with better genetics, devoted time for calisthenics daily, and eating a bit more.
I don't get why some guys always think that being in a good shape is something exclusive to contemporaries. Is it because of marketing tricks around supplements, roids and gyms? I don't know.
Yes, it's art. Yes, the statues are made to look good. And yes, people always had the ability to build muscle and be in a low bodyfat percentage. We also know that ancient greeks had a culture of working out and valuing highly their athletes.
>who were most likely NOT consuming 250 grams of protein a day
you don't need that much and you can easily consume 100-200 grams in meat if you're rich or have a rich patron which was probably the case for top athletes.
You are mistaken, you are comparing the common people with aristocrats and not realizing they had different access to food and activities.
An aristocrat could easily be consuming a very high protein diet at the time, and it would likely be seen as a luxury so it would be more prestigious to have it. They also had abilities to workout in many different ways and played sports which over a long period of time could get some to have better physiques than your photo.
Of course if you are talking about the common slave it’s less likely, but for aristocrats that had a big sport culture it is easy.
No longer possible as a natural output of the way modernity allows your lifestyle. That's why if you look like this now you're generally an exception to the norm.
he used roids to get that body lol. thats well beyond his genetic peak if he trained for 5+ years. vikings were not fighting pitched battles every day you stupid frick. why are you people so Hollywood brain dead?
they did extremely physical tasks like rowing for hours on end, hunting, chopping wood, digging, building etc.
I don't doubt that skarsgard used roids for the role, that doesn't mean their weren't Vikings that couldn't get to that size, the amount of inadvertent upper body training they would have done would be immense.

Ancient Icelanders trained with stones. The same for Brits and Scandis. This is known fact. Also it has been proven that medieval farmers had the bodies of modern day athletes. I think you are coping because the thought that things might actually be worse now scares you so much.
How does it feel to look at those strong trained bodies while at the same time being being the epitome of weakness and spending your days trying to infect people with your defeatism?

As for their physiques there is nothing superhero about them, they are aesthetic proportion'd maxxed but as for their muscle mass they are good lean athletes that have been working out for their whole life.
Look at Ronny Coleman and Dorian before they roided, they were fricking massive, and if they got nerfed in ancient times they had a physique like those statues. They are 0.001% of the population but they existed. They made statues of those people, not some random dyel peasant who would look even shittier than a 2 years novice in modern times.
They were lean and led active lives, maybe farm work, moving stones, hunting animals, digging running walking almost everyday for most of their lives, unlike how ppl live these days, Its not complicated.

you are a jelly, coping dyel, deal with it.
>you can google more pics but thats also him without good lighting to make him look larger
He was built exactly the same way before true blood. Cope harder
>its totally not roids
homie he's literally not that big in this picture
go to any track and field meet and you'll see ten guys with this physique
b8, you're a dyle so blame every good body on roids, keep coping.
>Working out for years during true blood
Says who?
He's 6ft 4. I garauntee he looks exactly like that with basically no weight training what so ever
>that barely builds anything
Yes of course, everyone knows lumberjacks were twinks.
no it's not you dumbass
this physique is very achievable natty, he had literally the perfect lighting provided by the filmcrew and did all his shirtless scenes with full pump, plus he trained for years before that
you homies keep talking about the genetic natural peaks while clearly having zero understanding about how they work and having achieved less than 20% of your own potential
please post body and prove me wrong
As for their physiques there is nothing superhero about them, they are aesthetic proportion'd maxxed but as for their muscle mass they are good lean athletes that have been working out for their whole life.
Look at Ronny Coleman and Dorian before they roided, they were fricking massive, and if they got nerfed in ancient times they had a physique like those statues. They are 0.001% of the population but they existed. They made statues of those people, not some random dyel peasant who would look even shittier than a 2 years novice in modern times.
>who were most likely NOT consuming 250 grams of protein a day,
are you so sure about that?
>250grams
If you need that much protein you're either 6'10 or a fat frick!
Also, they were much more active than you and for a lot longer
Do those guys look 250lbs lean? They don't need that much protein and most people don't but people competing for Mr O
They were lean and led active lives, maybe farm work, moving stones, hunting animals, digging running walking almost everyday for most of their lives, unlike how ppl live these days, Its not complicated.
they didnt have sugarcane. Really very little sugar at all.
Pounding bussy, running, push ups, squats and practicing the phalanx. Thats how they got that body
Sources: trust me bro
They were active essentially every day.
