      from the start. if i'm nit having fun, i won't stick to working out. i do compounds regularly but isolations are pretty much for whenever i feel like doing them.

      that said, my biceps and forearms are small. also chest and lats

    It took me 7 years, when I realised that progressive overload and stabilizer muscles are memes and that getting a pump and lifting by feel is what really makes you big and strong.

      Training stabilizer muscles is very effective if they aren't trained... it prevents injury. People who can squat 3pl8 often can not do a single leg squat. Or they can do it on one leg. This imbalance can also become detrimental at higher weights. Same for shoulders, rotator cuff muscles (spinatus), muscles around the scapula.

      Once you hit those muscles and have trained your balance adequately enough it stops really adding benefit. This is already pretty fast. The 3 main lifts do not hit stabilizer muscles very well.
