it does at first. so if you stop after a day and start again, you're always kinda in the muscle-eating phase of fasting. google protein sparing modified fast and do that on fasting days. or you could always eat at a deficit, get enough protein and lift weights.

Although we have the same height and a kind of similar build, my gut isnt as distended as yours. I have managed to reduce it somewhat through diet and low weight training(25-30pd dumbells/100-125pd barbell).

I just do it every other day and mix it up, one day is dumbell exercises and stationary bike and the next is barbell and jump rope. Im starting to see some very small changes(triceps are more toned, my lats look a bit wider) and I feel great.

So in a nutshell, do a lot of weight training and cardio. Watch your sugar intake(and salt if you have HBP) eat well, get good sleep and you should see results down the line.

    1. exercise
    2. eat at a caloric deficit

be realistic about what you can do. It should not be "hard", you should not be doing fasting or a serious deficit, or anything requiring willpower, because clearly you have none.

The only goal is to remove bad habits and add good habits that you can stick to, working towards those 2 objectives. Exercise is more important than you think, i felt like shit whenever i missed a workout and that caused issues sticking to my diet. Get to it

i startes in a very similar situation. 1800 calories per day, 150g+ of protein every day, rest split between fat and carbs. exercise almost every day. lifting and cardio. depending on how diligent you are, youll be there in a year or two. good luck, and make sure to read as much about nutrition and exercise as you can, but dont use IST as a source of information

It's manageable. Read up on what you're doing so you actually understand what you're trying to do and don't frick around. Be consistent and change your lifestyle to accommodate and you'll feel much better in a year. You might not look "amazing" but you'll look a hell of a lot better than you do now.

I was 6'1" 250lbs. I dropped to 225 after about three months just by hard cutting snacks and calorie drinks and running every other day. I dropped down to 195 over another year by cutting calories down to a "reasonable" level in the low 3000s and continuing to run, than 4-5 times a week. I plateaued there for almost three years until I started lifting and doing core 6 days a week, running 6 days a week and greatly changed my diet to healthy foods in lower amounts (2000-300 calories a day). That was seven months ago and I'm down to 175 so far.

Eat 1200 calories a day or less for the next 6 months and you'll lose at least 60 pounds. You have zero muscle mass so you'll still be skinny fat but it'll still be an improvement.

Six months for a transformation to skinny a year to look totally different. Just shoot in six months to a year to look different. Work out three days a week maybe four. Then take three or four days rest. In which you could do light cardio such as walking or riding a bike.

I'm 5'7", was 215 at the end of last summer. My doctor then told me he wanted me to go on medication for high cholesterol, but said maybe losing weight would make it unnecessary. So I should try to lose weight and come back in 3 months. That was the first time I ever really actively tried to fix my diet. I've been overweight to obese my entire life, even as a kid. (I was 32 at that meeting with my doctor, 33 now)

So I started walking a lot daily and tried to cut back on takeout and fast food, which I was getting daily, stopped having chips and candy with my lunch, and started having much lighter meals late in the day. Was down to around 185-190 around the end of the year, but my cholesterol hadn't improved enough so my doctor put me on meds anyway.

That was a bit demoralizing, so I did backslide on my diet, and was back up to 195 or so in March. Decided to get serious again and really try harder than before. Started going to the gym with my mom and doing cardio with her at least 5 days a week, and became much more conscientious about my diet. Down to 165 now, and I've added a lot of muscle to my lower body from all the cycling and incline walking I've been doing.

I've been on high blood pressure meds since my early 20s. I always assumed it was genetic because it runs in my family, and it probably is, but since I've always been overweight I never tested just how much is genetic predisposition and how much is lifestyle. Since my weight loss so far I've been able to drop my dosage of blood pressure meds in half, and reduced the high cholesterol meds to 4x a week instead of daily. That's my biggest motivation. I think in another 4-6 months I should be able to reach my goal weight of 145 lbs.

My mom, who is in her late 60s and obese is a big motivation as well. She won't reay work out on her own, so it's been nice to help her be healthier too.

Well done man, with enough muscle that could be your goal weight.
Also about your cholesterol, did you try supplementing some potassium?
I hear potassium deficiency can cause high blood pressure.

        Anonymous

I don't supplement it, I eat a banana with my breakfast daily. I'm on a very low dosage of Lisinopril now, 5mg daily, and that has my bp controlled. I think the key is just to continue to lose weight, improve my cardio, and watch what I eat. I've found that I'm very sensitive to salt, so limiting the amount I use in my cooking, eating out rarely, and avoiding prepacked foods unless they're low sodium has definitely helped me feel better too.

I used to have a weekly ritual where every Monday afternoon I'd get takeout from a really good Chinese food place in my neighborhood. I'd order steamed pork dumplings, chicken with vegetables in a sweet garlic sauce (comes with a gigantic amount of white rice), and an egg roll. No matter how many times I said I'd only eat some of it and save the rest for later, I always demolished it. It was delicious, but shortly afterwards I'd feel like shit, and sometimes even feel heart palpitations from eating so much salt so quickly. Despite this though I kept getting it every week. Just so unhealthy, but I didn't really think about it that way. Thankfully I don't do that anymore.

I wonder how common things like that are these days with how prevalent obesity is, and all the unhealthy food options available.

This was me at 235, kind of a shit pic wish I took better ones back then. my heaviest was at 245 (dont have a pic of it sadly). I "dieted" (realistically I just ate less and stopped eating goyslop every day and home cooked more with healiter options) and went to the gym at least 5 days a week. Took me a little over 6 months to get down to 180.

This is what I look like now, I look and more importantly FEEL so much better both physically and mentally compared to when I was a fat slob who did nothing but eat McDonalds and drink 6 cans of coke every single day. I still have a long way to go but I'm glad I started when I did and didn't let myself continue to go down the path of morbid obesity. What I'm trying to say is it's never too late to start anon, don't give up on yourself too soon.

          Anonymous

Took the pic yesterday and I weighed 179.2. I do have loose skin (luckily not a lot though & it's in places that don't show as much) and some fat to be honest. picture just looks better cause my arms are raised and I'm flexing with decent lighting. Pic rel is me normally, you can still see the moobs and i've come to terms with the fact that I'll probably never be able to get rid of them fully unless I get surgery lol.

I try not to let the body dysmorphia & self conscious feelings get to me though, if I keep pushing forward I know I'll make it eventually.

At two pounds a week so you don’t get too much loose skin and roughly 55 lbs to cut you’re looking at 27.5 weeks or roughly 7 months.

    Not impossible.
