0 but what set me back was listening to the shitters on IST and keeping on trying to change SS which basically made me spin my wheels on and off for years and getting hurt. One day (a couple of months ago), I started doing SS as written, consumed the content, did lifts as instructed, ate properly, and my lifts exploded. I’m benching 100kg for a 3x5, pressing 75kg 3x5, squatting 145kg 3x5, deadlifting 190kg 1x5 on SS but I feel I’m coming to an end soon. I am 5’10 and weigh 95kg. I will never listen to IST again.

I am between 17-20% body fat, I look pretty muscular, have semi visible abs etc. Lots of shape, thickness in my muscles everywhere. I know it doesn’t matter what I say because someone will just think it’s a lie or say post body but I have no reason to. I look pretty fricking strong in clothes and a lot of people (women) say I’m a big guy, I’ve even had women online telling me to crush them with my arms (I curl 3x10 every other session, that’s it). It’s very funny because I still see myself as skinny since I was for years. It turns out that getting stronger is more than enough to make you bigger all over and give you physical presence. Just stay focused and keep getting stronger. I can’t say enough just how well it is working for me by not over complicating shit.

The anon you are replying to isn’t the guy who follows SS and mogs you, that’s me. Also, if you are big, you’ll look way better in person than in pictures like every single time but you can continue with your demoralisation and trying to stop people from actually making progress. The reason that I post here is because it’s anonymous. I don’t post pictures of myself on here no matter how much you, a man, will beg to see my body. Even if I post a picture, it could still be someone else’s picture, there’s no winning with you morons so there’s really no incentive if you wish to believe that everyone around you is telling a lie. You’ll be bigger if you actually get stronger and I don’t need validation from IST dyels, it’s just nice to leave some positive advice and share a good experience in the hopes that someone will try it out and realise how bad this place is.

NTA and quite an old photo, but this was me when I was running TM after SS, benching just over 2plate, squatting around 160 and pulling 180 sat at about 73kg.
There might be better programs out there but honestly its decent, you'll get stronger and as long as you dont bulk into obesity while doing it you'll look fine

Well, as prescribed then. Rippetoe and a couple of the other SS coaches have mentioned having no issue with, even endorsing curls 1-2x a week, for a 3x10, in some videos and the podcasts, so that’s what I do.

If the program was 3x5+ (so 5, 5, and then max reps) it might be worth something. Well, with some upper limit like 20 reps on the last set because you start with an empty bar, but someone might actually build some muscle doing the last bench set for max reps.

        >never even read the program and thinks you start with an empty bar

          Anonymous

I'm not reading a whole book for this gay program but when I read 15 years ago it said you start with an empty bar. The amrap might not be the best option to start the first training sessions with, I admit that now, but when you get the thing going.

            Anonymous

You don't need to read the book. Any summary states that you built up to a weight where form starts to break down on your first session to find your start weight. 15 years of lifting though? You must be experienced. Post body?

            >thinks you start with an empty bar
Honestly you probably could, the weight ramps so ridiculously fast on SS you could start with a broomstick and you'd still be squatting decent weight within 6 months

You could, but there's no need.

No need to post body, lifting was never my thing and I wasn't built to lift weights. I can just provide you with the information that for a lot of people arms don't grow if you don't target them.

best thing that i ever did. i lifted more in 6 months than my friends who had been training for 3-5 years. and because of that base i built i was benching 3pl8 sub 2 years which is more than virtually 99,99999999999999999999999999% of people who have been lifting indefinitely. after that i reached my goals and have been training fullbody + hypertrophy for the last 9 years. ppl frequently ask if i roid because of my relatively freak strength and aestethics as i like to hover around 10% bf and ~75kg aka my natty max (im 176cm manlet)

The worst thing he ever did was try to convince us to stay on the program until we hit certain numbers which most of us weren't going to hit without excessive weight gain. He encouraged us to do the worst possible thing for developing a good physique, which is gaining weight at a fast rate while your lifts aren't going up, (or they are slightly just because of the weight gain). That's absolutely heinous. Doing SS for 4 months adding weight every session plus a couple of stalls, then you start modifying stuff & slow down the bulk
