What helped me were Kroc rows/heavy barbell rows and static holds. When I first started lifting, I couldn't even hold 135 lb (yes I know that's pathetic). After a year and a half I can DOH 325.
If you still want to train deadlifts at the same time strap some of these to some kettlebells or dumbbells.
Plenty of other ways to train grip strength though. Check out climbing exercises to add in to a program if your serious about it.
Too many frickers will tell you one way or the other that you need to follow only work on barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells, or calisthenics to achieve what you’re after. Just frickin go mad and cross train on different programs and you’ll be a beast.
Crushing grip just use CoC grippers, for holds do farmer carries and wrist roller. I recently started doing some arm wrestling exercises and that has increased grip strength as well.

If you do this there’s no need for straps unless your an Olympic weightlifter.
At the end of the day nobody cares just train harder without all the meme bullshit nowadays.
Yeah pinch gripping is really good as well. People forget that you have muscles in your fingers. I should add the rice bowl thing we used to do in sambo. It's amazing for recovery too. You fill a pale with rice throw your hands in deep with a fist and open and close them for time. I used to do axle bar work too which is pretty beneficial.
this is the way. mixed for top set / PRs only. DOH also lets me know if fatigue levels are too high as grip max is one of the first to decline along with standing vert
I've deadlifted 395# with a mixed grip.
Today I pulled 295$ DOH.
Monday or Tuesday my straps arrive.
Goal is 4pl8s DOH and 5pl8s with straps by February 2023, if they don't close the gyms for unvaxxed goyim in September
232.5 kg beltless conventional with straps. I used to do only hook grip but I severely ripped my skin off and said frick this shit I'm not going to compete in powershitting anyways.
I don't deadlift, but I occasionally do romanian deadlifts. Did 170kg - 5reps 3 sets.
with a hook grip, which was stupidly painful - should have used straps
For competition pull I do mixed grip, I feel much more natural and safer with it. My best pull so far is 241 kg @ 105 kg. bodyweight.
For training, I do different grips depending on the type. I like hook grip a lot especially during high volume sets but my thumbs are kinda small and it's awkward to get in a good position. I always warmup with double overhand.
Strap Black folk deserve rope, work on your grip and stop trying to cheat, mongrels.
same lol. deadlifts are a reddit meme exercise anyway. also manlets tend to focus on boasting about it because it's easy for them to move the weight due to tiny ROM
I bench more than I deadlift, it seriously makes no sense
Hi anons, here's my counter as I was once like you.
I benched 2pl8 for reps with ease, but diddlylifts at 2pl8 were fricking almost impossible for a few reasons.
As someone who didn't care for them, I transitioned to loving them for this reason.
One, they held IMMENSELY with core-bracing for squats. When I used to squat deep with heavy weight I often started burping and feeling generally gassy due to lack of core strength (despite having visible abs).
I also, unbeknownst to me, had pretty shit hamstring flexibility and really weak erector spinae that wasn't being worked from any other exercise.
They suck, and if you're anywhere near where I was they'll suck for a LITERAL month at least - but they are worth it anons.
also female monkey brain neuron activate when see male monkey lift big weight from floor because female apes are apes
Sumo feels better for me, but I'm not keen to know what the knee and adductor strain will feel like at higher weights. Block pulls might work though since its only the last few inches where I lose the curve in my lumbar.
I do my working sets with straps, around 3 plates for 6.
I do RDL’s with straps, around 2 plates for 10-12.
I can do 345 lbs strapless.
I climb on the weekends so I figure that’s good for training grip and I can just work the legs/back when I deadlift.

I end up fingering it every time.
Doing 300 x 5 right now.
>Double overhand bros do you end up holding the bar in your fingers or do you retain the bar in palm section of hand where calluses are?
The former. You should be holding the bar at the palmar digital crease. Otherwise you will get unreal blisters on your palms.
Just add 2.5lbs to your last doh warmup before your real set, it will improve as fast as its going to, but you'll also have the added bonus of a stronger back and legs. Why stay weak on purpose if you could increase grip strength and back strength? I don't understand this form of autism
I just got back from almost fainting on 5 reps of a 1pl8 deadlift. My question is how the frick do you breathe during the deadlift? I understand bracing but how are you supposed to properly rebrace after every rep? Is it practice?
also if you have problems with fainting on deadlift maxes, just don't stand right after putting down the last rep, the quick rush of blood from standing up unopposed is what causes the light-headedness
Im now realizing my issuse might be that im holding the barbell at the top for too long. Thank you for the reply.

doh until top sets after that I deploy hook grip. I toss straps on if I'm doing anything over 5 reps and I've pulled 455 for a triple on a straight bar with pretty aggressive knurling. Probably could do more doh on a deadlift bar bit I've never really tried.
255lb x 5 last week and my hands slipped on 6 double ovehand grip. yes this is a DYEL number I have only been deadlifting once a week for about 3 months 147lb body weight. My grip strength is the weak link here and I'm working on it. I have never tried straps, chalk or any other type of grips. I figure my grip needs to be improved anyway so I'm just doing sets of 225-255 in the 5-8 rep range for now and trying to slowly increase the weight each week.
