How strong is your weighted pull up?

I can do 75 lbs 1 rep max, hope I can get to 100 lbs by the end of this year, maybe not enough time but we'll see.
Pic related my future gf.

    I do chin ups
Why do people do pull ups? They are objectively inferior, the only difference is you removing the biceps from the equation, which is why you can't do as many
Anyways I got up to 17 chins then switched to weighted and could pretty easily do 45x5 the first time

No, I provided an argument. You are a worthless piece of garbage for making contentless replies.

More functional pattern. When are you going to be able to chin-up yourself off of a cliff?
Anyways removing the bicep from the equation comes with the benefit of being able to blow up your lats which cover more of your body and contribute a lot ot other lifts.

See, here is a reply with an actual argument.
To address your points, if you can do more than 5 chins I'm sure you can pull yourself up off a cliff.
As for the lats, I don't see any reason to believe pullups use more lat. They have the same function in both movements.

          >I don't see any reason to believe pullups use more lat. They have the same function in both movements.
They're engaged the entire lift, and by virtue of less bicep involvement they HAVE to be stressed more in order to get up. They're not only involved in getting you out of deadhang.

            Anonymous

I feel like people don't see that they're not the same movement pattern. Biceps aside they aren't the same movement, chins/neutral have your arms more perpendicular to your body/bar, where pull-ups are more parallel

            Anonymous

Chin-ups actually isolate your lats better because pull-ups engage your traps more. By altering the angle it hits lats more, and some of the weight is shifted off of the traps onto the lats and biceps.

Basically, if you want to hit the entire back intensely at once do pull-ups, if you want to hit lats super hard, hit biceps, but probably need to do shrugs later then do chin-ups.

Unless you want strong lats. If you want weak lats and weak biceps, do chinups. If you want to work biceps do curls. I'm guessing you're a dyel with spaghetti arms, so you think any exercise that isn't working the arms is a waste of time.

          imagine doiing a pullup

          now imagine doing a chinup

the same weight went up (your fat ass)

          One doesnt Use Bicep

either you lost weight or a different muscle had to pull more weight

You can do fewer pullups than chinups
If your lats worked harder to compensate then you think you could do the same
One exercise is simply weaker than the other
Your lats are already doing everything they can during chinups

            >Exercises that use more muscle mass are better.

No, you can maybe do one, I've actually had to haul ass over concrete walls and around a couple of buildings the only way you train for pull ups is with pull ups.

Pull ups are harder. Avoiding what's hard keeps you weak, doing what's hard makes you strong.

        Anonymous

Squatting on a bosu ball is "harder." The only reason pullups are harder is because they use less muscle mass. Exercises that use more muscle mass are better.

        >I don't see any reason to believe pullups use more lat. They have the same function in both movements.
They're engaged the entire lift, and by virtue of less bicep involvement they HAVE to be stressed more in order to get up. They're not only involved in getting you out of deadhang.

There is no reason they "have to" be doing more. You can't really "make" a muscle do more that is already fully involved.

This is stupid. Chins work your lats just as much, I don't understand this weird mentality that wanting to do the exercise that involves more muscle mass is unholy for some reason.

Based. The real redpill is realizing pull-ups are an isolation exercise, while chin-ups are compounds.

there's no reason not to do both. I program weighted chin up as a primary movement and weighted pull up as an assistance movement. Better upper back engagement + less bicep tendon pain when adding volume + good upper back gains

stop trying to make training more complex than it is, there's almost 0 difference between pullups and chinups, except that it's impossible to tear your biceps on pullups while on chinups it's doable

ive never done weighted pullups. i kinda assumed that i was too heavy and weak enough to do them well enough that it could be considered training. i've been working up to it with lat pull downs and various rows.

then the other day when i was resting between squat sets, i deadhanged from the pullup bar just to see where i was at, and pulled myself all the way up! baffling. i look forward to screwing around with these on my next back day.
