How the fuck did Tom Platz even get his legs so big?

It can't just be about hitting legs and taking gear otherwise every dude on shit would have monster legs too. What was he doing differently? Was he ignoring upper body to have the 'illusion' of crazy big legs by comparison? Was he injecting something into them to help like synthol? I'm confused as frick. Other guys squat shit tons more than he could and are nowhere near the leg size he has.

Weren't all the guys in this period doing basically the same thing though? They were all hitting reps reps reps according to most except Mike Mentzer. It's like Tom stole all the leg gains that some of the other dudes would've made.

no they weren't what's the point of this question when they obviously weren't
The rest were doing high volume in the sense of doing a lot of sets
        Like maybe a 5x10 with 275
He was doing a single set of 50 reps with more weight

you dont get it do you, he trained so stupidly hard it wasnt even funny, this man failed on squats, noone fails on squats not at those rep ranges and those weights, legend says he would squat 225 for ten minutes strait, theres even a photograph of him passed out after accomplishing such a marvelous feat. He still holds the world record for most reps for 525 (23). Every time he trains someone they fall short of intensity, he has the toughest mindset. He was a masochist a depressed loner who forged his legs in the iron of solitude.

I wonder if there's any net difference between 10 minutes under 225 squatting it and 10 minutes under it static or carrying it (Yoke, Farmer Walks). Like could someone get the same level of muscle recruitment just hanging out with 225 on their back and standing in place?

        no, are you moronic?

That you'd even ask this makes me think you're too dumb to ever become swole or fit. How developmentally moronic must you be to say "yeah, I guess standing/walking around with weight on my shoulders is just as difficult as squatting that weight."
Try and run 100 steps, then do 100 squats, or 100 lunges. See which is more difficult. No need to use weight, you won't manage it either way.

He had great genetics for big legs. He also had short femurs which allows for ass to grass squats with a relatively upright position and maximum knee flexion in the bottom position which makes for tremendous quad stimulus. He also had a great sense of kinesthetic awareness in essentially doing the right amount of work in the gym combined with recovery to grow well.

thoughts on doing 5x5 until I can do 2pl8 squats and then start doing high rep as i can with 2pl8 until i can do suicide sets?

Of your squat form is so solid you will never frick up then yeah, but I doubt it is. Try doing 3x8s or even look into super squats if you want to explode your legs and your work capacity

Seriously just watch a video of him training legs. Tom platz is one of the few men I admire, certainly the only body builder. Fricking hack sissy squats. Have you ever done hack sissy squats? Try it sometime, your knees will explode and you won’t be able to train legs again for two months. Dude was a masochist
