How the fuck do I find the motivation to lift

I just can't. I can't do it. I managed to get myself to start again a few weeks back and midway through the first I get overcome by the anxiety of failing and not achieving anything for another year again and put the weights down.
How the frick do I do it? How do you?

You just go 3 to 5 days a week. Maybe lower your volume when you go since you're a beginner

Motivation is only a temporary tool. Most of the time I have 0 motivation to lift. But when you get enough displace you don’t need motivation anymore, you can just do something. I think of motivation like a short fire that will run out. I don’t think it’s good to rely on motivation. Next time you’re feeling motivated use it as a jumpstart and come up with a productive routine and schedule to follow

I don’t know, it sounds like maybe you’re a defeatist. If you can’t build the discipline or go to the gym now, then your next best option is to go to therapy and fix some issues so you can open yourself up to start doing things, and then start working out or whatever it is you want to achieve

      this

Personally, I can't fricking stand being a skeltan so I'm working on escaping that. I'm not resting until I meet that goal. That's given me 9 months of total consistency so far, and I don't see that failing anytime soon because I've built up the discipline along the way.

Don't rely on motivation, at least not in the long term. Feeling tired after a shitty day at work? Sure throw on some cringey short video or some hype Playlist to feel the motivation.
But the true change comes in embracing process and failure. At the start of this year, I went consistently for 3 months putting up new records, but I ultimately burned myself out trying to maintain motivation. I learned that I need to focus on consistency before I bring the full intensity. Maybe you need to as well.

Struggled with this too when I started out. Practical things that have worked for me

Write down lifts and numbers after every workout. Make a tiny increase in weight each time

Get a gym buddy to keep you accountable

If you feel like shit and don't wanna go just go through the motions. Still better than sitting on your ass

Get the rest of your life into as regular of a schedule as possible. Eat the same meals, go to bed at the same time, wake up at the same time

You just gotta build the habit. Eventually your body adjusts and it becomes easy. Now I feel like shit and can't sleep if I don't work out

Do you intend to fit the whole year into the work out? No. Just fit the one workout into the workout. If you're having a flare up of whatever, fit 3 sets of anything into that one work out. Take it day by day

Then die like the useless, excess male that you are.

Just take it one day at a time. Write down what you did, and try to do a little better next time. In a few weeks, you'll be amazed at how far you've come.

Set backs and plateaus are not failures. The only failure is failing to try. Stand up tall, amd go do the work. Promise yourself you will commit for a month. Keep your promise.

    Just tell yourself
    >I will just do one set of bench press
and you will be surprise that you would end up doing more.
This shit has been working very well for me except for when I was really tired.

Already tried this and it was the only thing keeping me going throughout my first year until I gave due to not seeing results. These things are old for me and won't work. I get absolutely overwhelmed on my first or second set with thoughts about another year of failure and start to hyperventilate.

    >How do you?
I was curious and looked forward to see my progress. Even if it was slow, I wouldn't know anyways. The consistency is something you build by going every day. There is no motivation. Even now, after a couple of years, I love lifting but we are in mid summer and there is 40°C over here. It's fricking hot, I don't WANT to go to the gym. I just do it.

Fo or don't we don't care if you lift. Less people to take up the gym for us, less competition for us.

Wow, you must be a real winner if you can't even motivate yourself to lift weights. What's next, giving up on brushing your teeth? Get your act together and stop being such a lazy piece of shit.

I cannot understand people with anxiety. How are you brains so fundamentally shit? Are you unable to use rational thought? It's almost as bad as the religious.

You will 100% regret NOT going to the gym, but you will NEVER regret going.
