I went 230lbs-172lbs doing cico over 6months, some months I just ate healthy/whole foods, spinach, onions, oranges, grapefruit, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, are all really good for satiation. I had an entire 2months I took a break and just maintained eating at maintenance of mostly junk food, gained no weight, now I'm back on the diet and only have 10-15lbs to go.
you can eat whatever you want if it fits your calories, but if you eat junk you'll be really hungry aswell as unhealthy, but you can fix that later, priority is just losing weight.

It’s like this across every fitness based platform.

Until you learn to differentiate between what sounds like moron advice, the best possible starting place for you is to do the following:
    >track calories
Weigh every little thing that goes inside your mouth out and log it on my fitness pal or whatever app or even a notebook. Make sure you remain in a 250-500 calorie deficit daily.
    >exercise
Yeah lift and shit, but also walk for 1-2 hours per day. If you have access to one do treadmill on max incline.

This will ensure you’re in a deficit and you will melt. It’s on you to stay consistent with it. Consistency is the key to all this. As you make progress and form new habits, you will be able to decide which advice to try out and see what works best for you and form your own opinions.
So just forget everything else for now. Calorie deficit, exercise

Here's the thing fatfrick anon. The popular diets? They all work. You can lose weight on Keto, Carnivore, Paleo, Atkins, Vegan, and High Carb Low Fat. The problem is nobody sticks to them. Not saying those are all good for long-term health, but weight loss dieting is a solved problem. It's just console wars in IST. Now once you're at a healthy BMI that's when it gets tricky. Those last ten to fifteen pounds you really have to know your shit to lose and keep them off.

They don't all work, that's the thing.
It's profitable to sell diet books, but the real science behind nutrition is obfuscated by the bright flashy easy math that any sub-100 IQ brain-fogged dieter can indulge themselves on.
Some of the diets you listed don't "work" because they fail to solve the cause of obesity, a surplus of insulin, and instead restrict your nutrition to the point that your body burns your fat, muscle, and organs trying to tap into anything to just get a little more energy.
Like a hungry man with his mouth sewn shut trying desperately to eat anything, but failing.

Your body is metabolically unwell and can't store, consume, or retrieve the energy it needs.

If you continue down this path of fringe hippy moron starvation diets to attempt to fix the underlying issue instead of adopting an eating lifestyle that isn't poisonous, there are consequences you will reap.

Pretty much it is just running a calorie deficit while doing some exorcise to keep your metabolic rate up. Your body will start burning less calories after awhile. Walk 2-4 miles a day at least 5 days a week. Depending on how out of shape you are you might have to work up to that amount of exercise in a week. Change your diet to include lots of protein and fiber. If you are going from eating mainly unhealthy food you should probably introduce healthier foods a little slowly. If you hardly eat lettuce and then you switch to only eating salads you are going to feel like shit and have a lot of bloating and probably terrible shits. Just switch out on meal at a time a week. So change your breakfast to something healthy week one then the next week change your lunch then by week three you will be eating nothing but healthy foods.

Conversely, if you're locked in a room and fed 8,000 calories per day of rice, chicken, and broccoli, there is a great chance that you may get to your weight goal, as well.

Please, explain why a type-2 diabetic loses weight while they eat 4,000 calories a day, without using anything else but your calories-in, calories-out model.

            Anonymous

Perfect. I’m type 1. They lose weight because insulin is the hormone that carries sugar to the cells of the body. If they are diabetic then they don’t make insulin. The calories are still there but they are still trapped in the sugar molecules crystallizing in the blood. The CICO model doesn’t account for this because the calories have not been fully digested. CICO is about food that is digested. If you want to try and refute thermodynamics by cherry picking diseases that affect digestion then we can do that, but ultimately calories are a unit of energy that is used to measure energy input and output. Just because it gets complex doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

Calories are a useful proxy and overeating on any macro combination will make someone fat eventually

Oh okay you are a turbo moron then. Firstly, type 1 diabetes has nothing to do with how much sugar I ate. It’s an auto immune disease. I’ve been diabetic since I was 13. Second is that you are completely misinformed on what CICO means. Of course it refers to digesting calories. No one thinks that injecting raw sugar into your forearm or giving yourself a butter suppository would follow the CICO model. Where are you getting these ideas from? A calorie is a unit of energy like a meter is a unit of distance. You can’t take in more energy than you put out without the necessary physical storage of that energy that by its basic physical properties will increase or decrease in volume in coordination with the increase or decrease of energy availability. This can be any material in the body, but excess energy is converted into fat.

I'm pointing out that a calorie isn't a calorie if you don't digest it, which is more than just "calories in, calories out" that your moronic calorie counting only accounts for. If your bread-and-pasta-eating Black person of a mother didn't overindulge in antinutrients because of this scheme, you wouldn't have type 1 diabetes and you would likewise be completely unaware of any processes regarding metabolism at all!

                > I'm pointing out that a calorie isn't a calorie if you don't digest it, which is more than just "calories in, calories out" that your moronic calorie counting only accounts for.
Incorrect. While there will absolutely be variation in the efficiency of calorie digestion, the volume of calories that the body actually takes in must be lower than the volume that it puts out. Counting calories prior to digestion is a tool to estimate the body’s actual caloric processes throughout the day.
                > If your bread-and-pasta-eating Black person of a mother didn't overindulge in antinutrients because of this scheme, you wouldn't have type 1 diabetes and you would likewise be completely unaware of any processes regarding metabolism at all!
My favorite sentence of the week. Besides your shit ass grammar and the duly noted dangers of antinutrients this is laughably moronic. I am guessing that this is based on some conception of epi genetics, which is a great start, but not how diabetes works in either case. Type 1 is a rare hereditary disease that has nothing to do with the parents or grandparents eating habits. It manifests when 2 recessive genes activate in the offspring and cause the islets of langerhan, or beta cells, in the pancreas to stop functioning. There is more evidence for epi genetic involvement with type 2, but only when manifest in many generations, and even then requires the child to still overload the pancreas themselves. Type 1 is s genetic mutation from the building of DNA at conception.

Anything else I need to read?

Also a calorie is a calorie even if you don’t digest it. The calorie is a unit of heat that models energy within organic substances. If you don’t digest it then that means that the calorie is still within the food that was not digested rather than the body.

    >The First Law of thermodynamics is a formulation of the law of conservation of energy, adapted for thermodynamic processes. A simple formulation is: "the total energy in a system remains constant, although it may be converted from one form to another." Another common phrasing is that "energy can neither be created nor destroyed" (in a "closed system"). While there are many subtleties and implications, which may be better captured in more complex formulations, this is the essential principle of the First Law.

listen mate, the real truth is to trial and error this shit. When you look at a study, there's a trendline sure, but you have to remember there are dots on opposite sides of that trendline that represent a human. You're an individual human, and your dot varies. The only thing training videos should do is give you IDEAS on how to train and what to change. Never trust anything they say, just consider what they say - and if it doesn't work, stop doing it.
