Shoulder abduction (the movement you perform during a lateral raise) is the opposite of shoulder adduction, which is performed by the lats and teres major. Shoulder adduction is a very large component of wide grip pullups/pulldowns, both of which are pulling exercises. Therefore, because shoulder abduction is the opposite movement, it is a push.

Since muscles can only contact, all lifts are a pull. You dumb fricking moron. You slimy ignorant fricking dumb dumb. You drooling imbecile. You sloppy clown. There are raises, extensions, rows, and presses. But there are never any fricking pulls. Only the most deranged antisocial midwit would think the way you do. I will pray to God for your swift and painful demise

You moronic troglodyte, push is shorthand for presses and extensions, aka movements where by contraction of the muscles the load is moved away from the center of mass during the concentric, unlike pulls which are the opposite.
        >there are no pulls
Vertical pulls would like to disagree illiterate frick. Ever heard of them? Filthy peasant has never done pull-ups in his life; many such cases!

        >all lifts are a pull
joints either extend or flex. movements which cause joint extension are pushes. and movements which involve joint flexion are pulls.

bench press is a push because it involves elbow extension.
barbell rows are pulls because they involve elbow flexion

Also why is the serratus anterior highlighted in the pic but the upper traps aren't? I have never seen anyone claim that they can feel their serratus during lateral raises but I constantly hear people complaining about their upper traps somehow taking over the movement lol

Because people are stupid and it literally doesn't matter what you think you feel

True but lateral raises only complete one of the serratus' functions (scapula upward rotation) while completing both of the upper trap's functions (scapula upward rotation and elevation) so the upper traps logically would be more active during the movement.

Every single lift is a pull exercise. Muscles can only contract and pull on themselves.

It's a raise exercise, not push. Let me guess, you don't have a raise day?

ackxchually every exercise is a 'pulling' one since muscles only can exert force by contracting
