How to avoid messy shits

Been having messy shits all my life, to the point where I go thru a toilet paper roll every 2 days. Already tried psyllium fiber but it didn’t help. Keep having to wipe 20 times till my ass bleeding. What to do about this? It happens no matter what I eat. I also have autism symptoms and Tourette’s so prob related to the gut microbiome?

Inb4 anon totally ignores my post and proceeds to make fun of my autismo and Tourette’s

What do you mean by messy?
If it’s something that’s hardly solid or leaves skid marks and floats on water that usually means you are not producing enough bile
So it could be a liver problem, try taking milk thistle and artichoke extracts and bile salts or beet powder. You could also try OMAD or at least intermittent fasting and eat more fermented foods

OP, i would also advise you to take this guy's advice regarding fermented foods - but I would start off first with things like 24h fermented homemade yoghurt (which would completely remove all possible lactose), or 24h homemade coconut yoghurt/kefir

We don't, at this present time, know how well you handle insoluble fiber (aka cabbage), so if you want to venture there, I would encourage you to start with the brine from fermented vegetables - perhaps a teaspoon a day and then building up. Others have done the same, so I would look up blogs/videos of other speaking of such protocols.

Regarding your reply anon , floating stools could also indicate a simple lipase deficiency; and speaking of which OP, you could also simply find a digestive enzyme trustworthy enough, like Thorne/Enzymedica, which would contain lipase (if you think that might be the issue).

Last piece of advice OP - don't get overwhelmed. Simply start a food journal, and note down protocols implemented and when, as well nutritional supplements ingested and when. When introducting new foods through dietary protocols, introduce one every 2-3 days. Best of luck.

Nutritionist here with a variety of GI issues, including the hail mary - Ulcerative Colitis, perhaps you've seen me around here

I'll make this crudely short as I want to take a nap very soon
People with autism have a really high chance of having IBS/IBS-like symptoms/food intolerances/high intestinal permiability - or all of the above.

It's the hand that you were dealt, welcome to the club.

The way I would advise you to go about this is to attempt two dietary protocols. Simplest one would be first removing gluten and dairy.

But the two "main" ones would be AIP, and the other one being SCD. They both have their own applications, with AIP's purpose is elimination+identification of triggers mainly, while SCD focuses on the removal of starch.

Why starch? Some evidence suggests that starch can negatively impact pre-existing autism symptoms and the bacteria within starch to act as fuel, especially to those with hightened intestinal permiability, and tendency to fuel said bacteria.

If any sort of tweaking and troubleshooting with those is required, that would depend on changes and symptoms in your digestion - I would futher adjust AIP to be a combination of AIP and low-FODMAP eating, or SCD plus low fodmap eating (IF THE ORIGINAL PROTOCOLS DON'T DO YOU JUSTICE).

AIP+lowFODMAP and SCD+lowFODMAP are both very restrictive, which is why I started you off with the easier options.

I wish you the best anon. Your gut microbiome is obviously impacted by this. I would also considering speaking to a dietician that is mindful of the gut microbiome which has experience with autistic individuals. Nothing to be ashamed of, we all have our issues caused by a variety of poor dietary choices in our childhood/genes.

Ignore the "eat more fiber" anon above, he doesn't even know the difference between soluble and insoluble fiber.

that's fine buddy, the advice is for OP, not for you
i've been working with people with weight and gastro issues for the past 2-3 years and I'm proud of my achievements
No sarcasm there, I understand the stigma behind my title, but someone has to carry the cross

Thanks for the top advice. I’ll be trying these tips. I’ve already tried a keto diet where I had nothing but fish, grass fed beef with liver, chicken, leafy salads and olive oil for a few weeks and my shits got even worse. When I have rice it seems to improve them but I don’t want to have to rely on carbs to use the bathroom like a normal human being. What do nutritionbros?

rice can act as a binder because of its resistant starch
I already gave you plenty of solutions - try those first - you've got plenty to choose from ranging from a wide variety of restrictiveness and applicability

last thing, same guy here (obv)
trying to a simple low FODMAP approach first is also applicable
you could simply be more sensitive to certain fructans and whatnot

The Monash University FODMAP app or whatever it's called is a good management tool for that

I don't know what else ... supplements wise? You could try Calcium. Can act as a stool binder for some, but that would indeed be a plaster over the issue, rather than getting down to the root cause.

Again, best of luck, and don't hop from protocol to protocol in a matter of weeks. Look up guides on how to approach them (some people develop their own time frames depending on their effectiveness). I'd say a few weeks is a fair share.

Make sure to note these down on a separate document so you can keep yourself organized in regards to what you're gonna try.

I apologize that I wasn't able to offer One Piece of Advice That Would Fix It All, but all you gave us is that you have autism and sharty stools. Have a nice day anon, and I hope that one of these solutions stick.

You have IBS, take 1-4 IMODIUM/Loperamide throughout the day and also cut out onions and garlic.

Root cause is that your mum didnt breast feed you so your gut microbiome is permanently fricked.
