how to get enough protein?

I've got my exercise routine down but I am not gaining muscle at the rate I want, and I know what the problem is; my protein intake. I just can't seem to get enough protein in my diet to grow muscle effectively. I read online that you should eat slightly under your bodyweight in protein per day to build muscle, but how do I do that? I currently weigh 180lbs/81kg
I've tried incorporating protein in every single meal. I eat 4 eggs for breakfast and try to include 8oz of meat in my dinner. For lunch I usually have a sandwich with roast beef or turkey. The problem is how fricking expensive everything is these days. It's 5.99 for a dozen eggs where I live. Even the price of chicken (my go-to for the longest time) has gone up. I'm literally eating through my savings and not even hitting my protein goal for the day.

Help me. What should I eat? Calories are inconsequential.

        Im not gonna read your diary bro you should structure questions more directly but anyway I just did now and my direct answer to your direct question of how to get enough protein doesnt change. your financial problems are off topic. I mean wtf food costs money anon what can anyone here do about it? that being said, whey is going to be best protein by value just overdose on whey if you want cheap proteinz it doesnt get any cheaper than that unless you wanna go hunt wild game 4 free, thats the lowest it will go lol.

    protein intake is more relevant when you are in a calorie deficit. Calorie surpluses it doesn't matter as much.

    Having said that, just try and find the cheapest source you can, eggs are something to add to a meal usually, rather than the whole meal themselves.

    Don't forget to add the protein from all the food you eat, the little bits from other foods add up

      thanks. I usually do add the eggs to things like rice or hash browns. I have to ask though; why does it matter if you have a calorie deficit or calorie surplus?

      didnt read but have you tried protein shakes?

      I have but protein mix is expensive and I can't stomach milk so I have to mix it with water instead, which is disgusting.

        When you're in surplus, the body is more anabolic in general

        In a deficit its harder to retain muscle mass so you need more protein to be nitrogen positive
