studies that show harm from PUFAs are almost universally "we forced an animal to get 80% of its daily calories from this then it died of a heart attack."
Cook your own food. Whether you use a seed oil or not you shouldn't be consuming enough of any oil to put you up to a problematic level of consumption. Are you deep frying everything you eat? If so, just spare us your nonsene and dunk you face in next time.
You know seed oils are mostly eliminated when you stop getting sunburn (if you're white). It took me about a year to get to that point. I used to burn easily. Now I can be outside in the sun on a clear summer day for hours without burning. The reason we burn is because linoleic acid from seed oils in your skin cell membranes oxidizes easily when exposed to UV, which causes inflammation.
Same, I made a serious effort to cut pufa and I don't get burned either. If I get too aggressive with it, some coconut oil will convert a light burn to tan in a day or so
Is that why I don't get sunburnt anymore? I didn't even try to cut them out. I just don't get takeout anymore.
What other types of frick-shit does takeout food do? Bros, how many bullets am I dodging? >T. Ginger who lives in very sunny area
>be white people >conquer the world sailing all the worlds oceans >never complain about sunburn standing in the middle of the ocean for months on end >let israelites run our societies >the sun kills us now
Same. I'm mediterranean skinned and i remember i would get a brownish burnt color and for the past year I've significantly reduced seed oils to almost zero. Now I get a golden color and my skin is smooth as frick.
Mainly switching to saturated fats. Apparently refined coconut oil is good because it also acts like vitamin e to reduce the effects of pufa. Lose weight at a moderate pace so your liver can properly handle the pufa in your body. But mainly it's about switching to a no pufa diet and consuming enough saturated fat to convert it.
Stay far away from lard, chicken, and pig unless it's from a local farm and you know what they're being fed. If you can get beef, raw milk, or butter from local grass fed cows do that, otherwise stick mostly to coconut oil and maybe eggs.
His carrot salad isn't for pufa it's for clearing out estrogenic things from your gut and microplastics and what not. I mean, it won't hurt but that's not its purpose. Also, vitamin e can actually end up as an oxidant.
good thread. I've been researching that exact question and could not find anything.
I settled with only consuming saturated fats (is cheese ok?) and taking a vitamin e complex every day when I eat fats, kinda hoping it enters my body and stabilizes the fats. donno if this is bs.
why the effort of the salad? I eat carrots every day, feels great for the digestion. It should do the same thing, right?
>(is cheese ok?)
Cheese is basically all saturated as with all dairy. I read up on whether how cows are fed affects fat composition and it doesn't really like it does with chickens and pigs. (still get high quality grass fed though).
Anyway as for the salad, as I understand it(thanks to Bronze Age Pervert) the fact that the salad is shredded is what helps catch estrogenic crap as it tumbles through the bowls. It is a mechanical not chemical effect after all. But besides that ray peat carrot salad has other ingredients which are vinegar(supposed to be apple cidar vinegar I guess but I don't see the difference), sea salt and importantly, coconut oil (virgin unrefined). I'm sure eating carrots daily is good though. I don't really eat enough vegetable matter.
As far as the salad goes you aren't supposed to chew too much. But regardless the other ingredients are important. Coconut oil is antiseptic interestingly.
OP, it really depends how far you are and how improper your diet has been in the past. Don’t stress though, that’s the exact opposite of what you want to do.
Keto wasn’t moronic until ~~*they*~~ started making food products for it. Hell, even the USDA food pyramid is a good diet, as long as you choose real foods (brown rice, oats, real meats) instead of food-like products (like hamburgers and hotdogs).
My take on keto is that it's good for a last resort, but you have to do 'clean keto.' Basically leafy greens, some protein, and clean fats. Healthy people don't need to do keto because their body can burn fat and carbs effectively. Long term keto fricks with your thyroid and weakens your bones and will tank your testosterone levels.
>Healthy people
How many of them are left? Last time I checked my country is half diabetic or pre diabetic on conventional testing which is likely a gross underestimate
>Long term keto fricks with your thyroid and weakens your bones and will tank your testosterone levels.
this sounds like bogus. how is eating more meat, eggs, and fish result in your test tanking?
>this sounds like bogus. how is eating more meat, eggs, and fish result in your test tanking?
This is a known thing about keto. It's not good long term. Should be cycled in and out.

"known" as in some anecdotes? the longest clinical trials are only 2 years long not long term
2 years ago

It's only a "known thing" because most of the people doing keto are trying to lose weight and thus are going on large calorie deficits which will tank your test and could mess with your thyroid. Not to mention all the people who suck at managing their diet and become malnourished because they're not properly replacing sources of all the vitamins and minerals they need (also ties in with large calorie deficits because that means less food and thus less vitamins).
are there any studies supporting that seed oils are bad? i really couldn't find any but my searching skills might be shit. would much rather trust a group of disparate researchers scattered across the globe publishing in different journals than one fitness influencer whose main source of income is tied to convincing people to follow his advice
what i'm finding is that using cooking oils in HEAT is generally bad regardless of the oil. even palm oil and coconut oil which are lower in PUFAs and higher in saturated and monounsaturated fats >Kamsiah Jaarin, Norliana Masbah (2015) Heated cooking oils and its effect on blood pressure and possible mechanism: a review >Ayodeji Osmund Falade, Ganiyu Oboh, Anthony Ifeanyi Okoh; Potential Health Implications of the Consumption of Thermally-Oxidized Cooking Oils – a Review
also finding that the worst ones are with increased peroxidation of cooking oils are with PUFA oils and vegetable oils >Chris Silwood HEALTH EFFECTS OF OXIDIZED HEATED OILS >Ng, Chun-Yi; Leong, Xin-Fang; Masbah, Norliana; Adam, Siti Khadijah; Kamisah, Yusof; Jaarin, Kamsiah (2014). Heated vegetable oils and cardiovascular disease risk factors. Vascular Pharmacology >The data suggest that ingestion of meals rich in polyunsaturated vegetable oil irrespective of whether it has been thermally oxidised may cause acute injury to endothelial cells. Endothelial injury may be then implicated in its dysfunction in cardiovascular regulations.
now i just need to find studies that vindicate animal fats or high saturated fats to see if there's any point to picking that over plant-based high sat fat oils (palm, coconut, olive)
Olive oil mostly mufas but it's low mufas so it's fine
Cocoa butter is godly, lots of long chain sat fat but it's a little expensive and has a strong taste and idk where you are but macadamia oil is straight up impossible to find where I am.
well monounsaturated my bad. read something about the saturated fats in vegetable oils being different to the ones found in animal oils, different in a bad way. man, wish i had all day for this stuff. researching health shit's fun
anw i still need to decide what oil to use for cooking. thinking about: >coconut >olive >peanut >suet >lard >ghee
barring that, just eating less fried shit would probably make a bigger difference overall based on the papers i skimmed. the oils themselves aren't super bad, it's the frying that brings out the worst
What's bad in vegetable oils is the pufq amount. Really the only you need to do is avoid pufas, but there is maybe reason to think long chain saturated fats are even better than short chain, so cocoa butter > suet > ghee > butter > coconut oil > olive oil > lard > vegetable or seed oils .

The fastest would be to fast until you are like 12% body fat. You will probably feel miserable after a certain point though
What if Im already sub 12% bf?
Then you probably already have an ideal ratio of saturated fat to pufa in your body and you should just keep avoiding seed oils
Do the keto diet and start watching keto utubers and make sure you only eat satirated fats (healthy)
Do a ghee and olive oil fast. Eat nothing, just drink clarified butter and olive oil for a week.
It won't do shit for you, but then again seed oils weren't harming you in the first place either.

Fasting probably helps. Eat lots of saturated fat to replace the linoleic acid in your membranes. Just guessing, but this is what I did.
I'm so glad I'm not the only person who noticed this. I remember burning my instep after a few hours in the sun on holiday, shit hurt so bad.
I now live about 30mins from the beach I got that sunburn on. Never use sunscreen. Never get sunburned. Been living here for 2 years.
Only difference is I don't eat any processed food ever and I cook everything in animal fats or EVOO. Thanks for explaining why this has happened.
>Only difference is I don't eat any proce
only difference is you now leave next to the beach you absolute brainlet.
Lmao this dumb gay probably just went out in the sun, burned, then went out a week later and didn't get burned and thought a diet cured him.
You sound like a dumb Black person and probably are one. have a nice day, Black person.
Based I've been living in Japan for 3 months now and I have yet to get burnt
Same, I made a serious effort to cut pufa and I don't get burned either. If I get too aggressive with it, some coconut oil will convert a light burn to tan in a day or so

Using Irish labor in the south was like buying ryobi battery mowers for your landscaping company.

Consume a better diet. Stop thinking so much.
Those oils are literally in every single one of your cells and it will take a very very long time until all of them are degraded and replaced.
Holy Jesus AAAAAH no no no noooo I can't take it anymore sexxxxx oh frick sssssseeeeeeexxxxxxxx

there's literally nothing wrong with hamburgers and hotdogs you anti-german homosexual
t. Fat israelite
The seed oil stuff is largely associated with Ray Peat who very much is not a keto promoter. In fact he loves sugar.
I've never done keto, but I believe it can be good for people with epilepsy and some cancers. I just follow a non-strict paleo diet.
also potential for alzheimers and diabetes. the cancer stuff is very early stages

Flush Niacin can help burn up Bloodborne pufa, I feel like it worked pretty good for me but I think it have me eye floaters so I stopped
Niacin
Smoking cigarettes creates nicotinic acid which is the same as niacin, which will burn off pufa. Could explain why smokers get so tan
What about snus?
The nicotine needs to be oxidized, so burned.
Just don't eat them anymore and chug massive amounts of green tea
