    >i ran 2 half marathons
Doesn’t even know it’s physically impossible to “run” a marathon. These people are just anti science, like the foodie equivalent of a flat earther, you will never convince them. Just let them eat themselves to an early grave while they yoyo diet along the way and continue to make excuses.

I don’t know what they’re eating when they say “one meal a day”
but legitimately your body does dynamically metabolize depending on various factors that can include and result in consuming less calories and then burning less calories
humans do, even within the same demographics/exercise routines, burn calories at varying rates that can make massive differences
that being said they can still lose weight, but it means they need to cut even more and or actually weigh their food

People like this need to locked in a cell and actually be forced to lose weight and be forced to admit on camera that they are sorry for all the bullshit anti-diet things they wrote online as punishment for their gluttony.

      >decreased metabolism
You’re talking small % changes compared to what this fat b***h is shoveling into her mouth daily to maintain an obese bodyweight.

well she is claiming she doesn't. that decreased metabolism gains you 5kg per year though. shortcut to being obese. it's not small at all

I'm sure many of these people who complain that, despite healthy eating, they gain weight are liars. There are those "biggest loser" British shows with the hidden camers that show the "I only eat a salad for lunch and a granola bar for dinner" frickers hitting their fridge for cheesecake and ice cream six times a day.

But there is actually much truth to unnatural difficulties losing weight. Metabolisms can be different from one person to another for many reason. Check this out for some speculation on the topic:

BMR can be basically 50% up or down from what you would expect, a lot of fat people are incredibly low energy beyond what you would think from their weight

I think the issue might be initially brought on by food not so much overeating, Eating to much seed oils which encourage fat storage and damage mitochondria after which it's pretty hard to turn around since you now have at least prediabetes which is another factor in lowering your metabolism and the cutting calories heavily from this point might just put your health into a death spiral.

2 things to remember with people like this:

    1) The average person is a fricking moron when it comes to fitness/weightlifting
    2) People tend to overinflate what they do. "Going to the gym" could be walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes 2 times a week, and "eating healthy" could be switching from coke to diet coke

Assume anyone saying anything like this is an idiot and a liar

People in past hardly did anything to stay thin, they had drive in restaurants with burgers, fries and diet soda probably hadn't even been invented yet. People's laziness and is a factor in weightloss but most of the gain comes from the food being posion

In the link I posted a few posts up the blogger found interesting environmental correlation with river proximity and altitude. You're definitely right that the *stuff* in our food makes it harder (especially the seed oils as anon said above) but I think there are other factors that take it even further, such as pollutants.
