Oh, then you don't need to worry much. Break your fast with a couple of boiled eggs, either no salt or just a little bit of salt. Breaking your fast with protein is critical so as you don't spike your insulin and frick up your refeeding stage. And your fast is not long enough to break it with liquids like soup. Avoid hardy, fibrous stuff, hard on your bowels. Avoid anything dairy till later into the fast-break, it's hard on the stomach. After you've had your eggs by like an hour or two, depending on how you feel, eat small portions of soft and plain food like rice or potatoes (I recommend you microwave your potatoes, then leave them to cool for 15 minute, as the starch retrograde would greatly reduce their glycaemic index, i.e. they won't spike your blood sugar much). Chew really well when you eat, your saliva has digestive enzymes to make it easier on your system to take food in for the first time in a long while. After the rice/potatoes/whatever, wait for another hour, and closely monitor how you feel. If you think you can eat, go ahead, have some soft fruits or a light protein like fish. Then you can have any dairy another hour later, but go for something like yoghurt instead of milk. For the whole first day of the post-fast, avoid spicy, greasy and fibrous foods. Second day, pretty much eat whatever you want, but go easy on the portions, and eat light healthy meals. Don't go full hog and stuff your face with burgers and shit, your system is still not ready for that.
Awesome, thanks for the advice man. I am working with what I have here now. Would steel cut oats work instead of the potatoes? I have instant potatoes but I think that might spike my GI too much
Yes, steel cut oats are fine, they don't spike insulin hard (definitely better than the instant potatoes), but no milk and sugar, and keep salt to a minimum (yeah I know, but it's part of the process, the post-fast is honestly harder than the fast itself). But you must have plain boiled eggs an hour prior- this is non-negotiable.
Will do, yeah I can see that. I have done shorter fasts in the past and opening the flood gates to carbs really makes you want to binge out.
Not just binge out, they frick up a lot more than you think. Second day will be easier, but the first you have to be pretty cautious. For the whole first day, you have to closely monitor how your body reacts to food. If you don't feel like eating after the boiled eggs, then don't (and don't eat more than 1-2 eggs, also important). If later on in the day you feel like eating, then go for it.
Basically, the order of what to eat goes like this: eggs -> rice/potatoes/steel cut oats -> soft fruits/light proteins -> dairy. All small portions and separated by an hour, or even two depending on how you feel.
You might even want to omit the dairy just to be extra extra careful. It's not gonna frick you up, but it might give you a stomach ache, since it's a little harsh on a stomach lining that hasn't had anything pass through it for days. Even yoghurt will do that. If you really want it though, just have a very small cup of yoghurt- no hardy cheese and no milk for sure.
And also keep in mine refeeding syndrome happens due to large portions and a lot of sodium/electrolytes, both of which would frick you up on multiple levels. So long as you eat small portions of soft, plain foods, you will never go really wrong.
Okay, this entire time during the fast I have been taking sodium, magnesium and potassium, vit D pills, Vitamin C pills so not sure if tha thelps or hurts
No it doesn't hurt, matter of fact it's recommended since you're on a water fast (different story if you were doing a dry fast), but the electrolytes you're taking are not on the same level of the amount of salt used in cooking in general, let alone in a salty/savoury dishes, especially asian cuisine or fast food. THAT will frick you up coming off a water fast. After the first couple of days, you're good, but you're still better off eating healthy to not lose your fasting gains.
Yeah I will take it slow. The first time I tried extended fasting I went like 3 days and broke my fast with a full blown mexican fast food meal . I about turned myself inside out shitting so I don't want a repeat of that lol.

For sure, I plan on eating this weekend within reason ~1500-2000 calories a day and then starting a fast again sunday night til wednesday. Any reason I can't roll back into a fast next week?
I have got to lose weight before a specific time in the next two weeks. After this next fast I am goign to more sustainable weight loss practices.
I recommend eating nutrient-dense foods after your post-fast, especially organ meats if you have taste for them. This is to replenish any lost minerals and vitamins, and also to build a nice reserve of them for your next fast. This differs person to person, but personally, I don't start a fast until I've at least refed for twice the length of the previous fast. For example, if I fasted for 3 days, I refeed for three. Even longer if I did a dry fast. If you only wanna refeed for as long as you fasted for, go ahead, but be careful, if you're feeling consistently lightheaded and lethargic, then stop.

Sounds good. Remember, the goal is to lose weight, not to get rekt doing it. There's a proverb in my language that goes something like this: "the faster you go, the longer it takes you to reach your destination". Full of wisdom if you really think about it.

Take some sodium & potassium (i.e. snake juice), a tablet of magnesium, and maybe some calcium. You can take a full multivitamin too if you feel like it. Eat a small snack with this, like 100 to 500 calories. Wait an hour. Then eat whatever you want.
Refeeding syndrome is caused by micronutrient stores being low, then getting completely depleted when your digestive system reactivates. If you restock your micronutrient stores & gently restart your digestive system like this, then you won't have any problems.
Source: I looked up how refeeding syndrome is caused & treated when I started doing weeklong fasts. I have now done this more than a dozen times, with both dry and wet fasts, and I have never had a problem with it.

That makes alot of sense. I am guessing that the reason my chances of having it happen if I am already taking snake juice is much lower because I have stores of micronutrients.
